Wow

The observatory hill which is commonly known as Mahakal Mandir or Mahakal Temple by the localites. Peaceful, and a very good place to relax, sit and pray.

We walked this entire level circuit passing scores of clothing vendors, diverting to the Hilltop Temple, passing through a vast cypress grove with views over the tea valley to the 2 major viewpoint rest areas. Very good and must visit place behind the Mahakal Temple and Market. Scenic views are awesome. Good for photography. Only walk allowed, no vehicles. Small market for woolen and gift items.

This is the place to see the sun rise over the mountains, and trust me, it's spectacular. Even if it's misty, you might get lucky and have a few clear moments when all is revealed. Lots of early morning walkers, monkeys (stay away from the monkeys), and joggers stopping for yoga and stretching.

Happened upon this walk and thoroughly enjoyed it. The afternoon view on a clear day is amazing. The colours of the Himalayas are spectacular from here.
