The park is beautiful and well worth a trip, just don't stay in the chalets. The on site restaurant is serves pretty good and reasonably priced food, but the best part is the view outside. The staff and volunteers were friendly and helpful. Numerous hikes...More

We are so happy we stumbled upon Cheaha State Park while on our cross-country adventure. We enjoyed the primitive and semi-primitive camping spots (both were lovely), we jumped in the mountain lake (so much fun) and we fell in love with the view at "The...More

It is a shame that the state park that holds Alabama's highest peak is actually pretty run-down. We did tent camping for a weekend and the electricity boxes we paid for didn't work. The Maintenance man was nice and gave us extension cords from a...More

This park is a treasure and has so much to offer but I feel that it has been seriously neglected over the past several years. The stairwell of the observation tower was poorly lighted...most didn't work at all...it also smelled of urine. The pool at...More

James H, thank you for taking the time to let us know where we can (and will) improve. For many years we had been unable to make upgrades and renovations in our parks due to inadequate funding, but thanks to Alabamians approving Amendment 2, our...More

To the RVers who are NOT local or are from out-of-state, read on. Full hook-ups are provided in Campground 1. The electrical needs an upgrade because the 30 amp sockets are loose, may damage your equipment, and give poor connections. Fires start this way. So...More
