We strolled through several trails in November. It was a beautiful, peaceful place full of views of the surrounding countryside. I don't know how the weekends are, but Wednesday morning was pretty quiet. If you're in Huntsville, plan a few hours here and bring you lunch with you.

We stayed on Thanksgiving. We tried to stay at the one by the Rocket center but it was booked up. Bc we waited so late to book (2 weeks out) there weren't any lots with sewage hook up available so we were forced to stay on one without. There is a community one at the entrance to use though. If... What a beautiful place♡ The view is magnificent and the hiking is great. Lots of history on the grounds and a wonderful place to take photos. The lodge is perfect for weddings and the cabins are quaint with some that are dog friendly.

Came to the park on a Sunday morning and had a hard time finding our way around since there was no guard on duty at the time. I would recommend a park map be available at the guard shack. Entry fee is on an honor system. A little disappointed at the two cars who drove around us and did not... More

Thank you for a great suggestion. Unfortunately we do not have the funds to leave maps at the guard shack, however you can pick one up at the park office. We will put a sign up at the guard shack to let everyone know where to find a map. Thank you for bringing this to our attention and I hope... More

Beautiful all natural state park with good trails, rock formations and varied terrain. Sits above the city so on average is 5 degrees cooler in the heat of the summer.

Highly recommended. Close to Huntsville and yet you are out in beautiful nature. We had a really nice walk through great trails. There are many options so multiple visits are possible. They do charge by the person - $5 - which I thought was unusual for a park.

Great walking in easy terrain suitable for people visually impaired (with help and guidance) and for elderly with arthritis. Nice views and pleasant walks.

What a great review! I'd never thought about how our trails might benifit those with arthrisitis, but that is very true. More

I live in Huntsville but I still rent a cabin and spend the weekend on the mountain. It is a great 2 day adventure. There is lots of trails and things to do on the mountain. The cabins are rustic but fun. In the winter most have an open fireplace and can be very cozy.

We like to think we are just close enough to home but just out of the way enough for a quick getaway! Fall offers top notch views from many of our cabins. I hope you will be back to visit again soon! More

While visiting Huntsville, the wife and I had a chance to visit Monte Sano State Park. The park set atop of a mountain about 5 miles east of Huntsville. It has most everything an outdoor person would enjoy. A great addition is the overlook the has a view of a valley that is worth the ride to the park. The... More
