Went there several times and always caught 5-12 lb striped bass. It is a big lake and you should hire a local Guide, as they know where the fish are, as most of them fish 3 times or more a week.

We stayed at a local campground and found it very peaceful. The lake was huge with many branches. We drove to the dam area and was not impressed.

You can get near the dam, but there are no public tours. The facility is owned and operated by Alabama Power.

There is no monument located at the dam. I am not aware of an Indian burial mound underneath it.
