If you want to understand the meaning of Mardi Gras, and how it has influenced the culture of this beautiful, southern city, then you must go to this museum. The exhibits are very well done. You can even hop on a real float!

It was lots of fun looking at all of the capes, the designs for the Kings and Queens of Mardi Gras. You can roam about at your own pace or take a guided tour. Lots of Mardi Gras to see!

Walked across 5th the street from the hotel we were staying at to visit this museum. After paying the reasonable admission price of $5, you watch a short 10 minute movie on the birth of Mardi Gras, then are led to a large room with float displays, after which tou can do a self guided tour or guided tour. Your length is 45 minutes but you can spend as much time as you would like in the various rooms post tour. There is a self guided tour available as well... More

We are not much on Mardi Gras in our family, but we figured it would be interesting to see the history of what it was all about. There are many extravagant gowns and robes etc and a ton of history on display. The guides were very informative and enthusiastic about their history. It was worth the price of admission. If... The history here is phenominal. Photography, well informed docents, and gorgeous historical Mardi Gras court regalia make this delightful your. The on site gift shop features everything you need to celebrate in style, and if you're really lucky you may meet a former Mardi Gras Queen! We really enjoyed the visit and recommend this to anyone visiting Mobile.
