Very interesting place to learn more about Mardi Gras & it's traditions. All of the staff that we encountered were friendly and knowledgeable. You can do the museum with a tour guide or do a self guided tour. They house many of the garments and trains worn by Mardi Gras kings & queens. Some of which are extremely elaborate.

while there are many very ornate and grand items and memorabilia, a bit more explanation and history to put it all in context would be a vast improvement.

Great way to try to understand the history of Mardi gras celebrations. It was quite new to me and I found it both enlightening and disturbing. The pageantry is amazing and a huge part of southern culture.

Take the time to visit and you'll be amazed at the displays. And if you're lucky enough to have Craig as your tour guide, you will be entertained. The guy is so knowledgeable and he has a great sense of humor. Every museum needs guides like Craig! And don't forget to buy some mini Moon Pies before you leave the... More

We had some time to spend before boarding for a cruise and decided on the Mardi Gras Museum which is located near the port. This museum concentrates on the history of Mardi Gras in Mobile. There is a video shown for an introduction. Then you walk through the area to see an example of a float. If you wish you... More

Lots of great mobile history of Mardi Gras. Very informative for the younger generation. The beautiful gowns and trains worn by past queens are exquisite, seeing them up close makes them even more royal!

Enter through the gift shop and be introduced to all that is Mardi Gras in Mobile. We expected to just wonder through, however, we were introduced to our tour guide then wove our way through the 3 floors of memorabilia and history of Mardi Gras and Mystic Societies. There is more to it than beads and balls.

It was a very informative tour. My husband and I went in and were greeted warmly. We were part of the cruise customers and so got a discount. It was 4$ each to get in. But the history... the knowledge of our guide... The information that we had no clue we were about to receive was so intriguing. The tour... More

Went with a group and had a personal tour guide take us through - I think that is always the case whether you are in a group or not. First you watch a short movie - and it is old - I think they could update that. Then you go through about 3 rooms downstowns and 3 or 4 upstairs... More

You can take a self guided mobile tour or go with a docent. $5 per. Interesting info re Mardi Gras. A bit monotonous looking at all the gowns/capes after awhile. Volunteered and docents were great . But worth the money.
