Really great and huge place to see! Better to take mini car to drive you from point to point and then sightsee everything. Greenhouses are amazing! There are so many species from around the World! Garden is divided into many parts with different topic or belonging to different countries/continents.

I was warned that this place is really run down, dirty, polluted, and just not pretty..... By all accounts they were correct. Now one could argue that it is probably the wrong time of year to enjoy a mostly outdoor botanical garden in all its glory. But.... I couldn't believe how many exhibits look as if they have simply been... More

You would think that a botanical garden would be elegant, grand, and serene - this place certainly is not. Costs 15 yuan to enter but special exhibitions within the "garden" will cost you extra. Perhaps it may have been the wrong time of the year to visit but in my honest opinion, this place was mediocre at best. For a... More

This park is very close to hustle and bustle of the Puxi side of Shanghai. Do not get your self confused with the Shanghai Chenshan Botanical Gardens off line 9 and WAY out of town. This park was developed in the 1970s and except for a few older exhibits is wonderfully maintained. Signage around the park and on the maps... More

A rather expansive garden in Shanghai. Almost too big because the attention to detail and maintenance seems a bit thin. Also on my visit there was too much trash in the streams, around rocks, etc. It's nice and there are many plants to admire however I wish it were smaller and better kept.

Modern time garden building (as opposed to historical gardens) in Chinese cities is in its infancy, in time line lock step with the huge expansion in infrastructure and commercial/residential building programs. The City residents need somewhere to breath and relax...and look at something that isn't made of cement. The formal, but very beautiful, Botanic Gardens, almost exclusively are for that... More

If you are looking for a spot of cherry blossom viewing, you would be much better off heading to Gucun. The botanical gardens are crowded and lacking in maintenance. Despite the banners promoting an international flower festival, the exhibits were minimal and underwhelming. Should you go anywhere, I recommend you keep to the regular 15rmb tics. The conservatories are simply... More

We visited a few days prior to the opening of the international flower show. Many areas were under construction - either with building sites or planting flowers. we didn't see the gardens at their best. the garden is 80 hectares and our 1.5 hour visit didn't allow time to see all the garden. the orchids were beautiful as were the... This place is rather difficult to get to and really the only reasonable way is by taxi that will run you quite a bit, as it is located out of the way. Entrance fee of RMB 15 gets you to see the sprawling grounds. RMB 40 lets you into two green houses and bonsai exhibit in addition to the grounds... More

Shanghai Botanical Garden is especially beautiful in spring. It is not so accessible by subway so taking a bus is a better idea. The entrance fee is quite cheap as well its at 40 RMB. There are a lot of things to see and the different displays are simply breathtaking. Its a good place to simply have a picnic and... More
