About 55-minute ride on metro line 16. Take the Dishui Lake exit to get to the lake promenade. There are a few vendors selling food, drinks and stuff. I went morning on weekday and the area was nearly deserted. The whole area still is going through construction and there seems to be a lot more to do. So far, most... More

Decided to jump on the metro and go somewhere out of the busy nature of Shanghai. It took about 1.5 hours from Yuyuan Gardens where we were staying. It was quite deserted with very few people except for a couple of stalls selling food and kites. It was very tranquil and we had a lovely walk along the promenade/pathway and... More

About 40 miles south-east of The Bund, taking about an hour to get there on the Metro. New land reclaimed from the sea since 2002. An enormous lake, with a promenade from the metro station to a concert area. Lots of vendors selling snacks, kites and souvenirs. Much of the more distance lakefront is still being developed.

I was looking for somewhere to witness the first sunrise of the year. Being in Shanghai, I looked at map and this seems to be the most eastern tip of the city facing the ocean. Hence, I went and took the last sunset of 2015 and the first sunrise of 2016. At that time, the air pollution was bad and... More

Dishui Lake is at the end of metro line 16, about 1 hour away from Shanghai's city center in the south of Pudong. It is another amazing neighborhood in Shanghai which you can watch growing within months. Besides this man made lake, there is the Crowne Plaza, the China Maritime Museum, an expo center, and a couple of malls that... More

This is a very massive lake where the locals come to use the lake in many ways. You can hire a sailing boat, take a motorboat ride, hire a duel push bike or walk around the expansive Boardwalk. It's not very scenic or beautiful, gardens or a little drab, but it is man made and big. You can get the... More

No reason to visit unless you are passing by. Only good thing is you can rent a sailing dinghy and take yourself off for a sail - not cheap but glad someone is doing it. Not found that anywhere else in Shanghai.
