For all of its shortcomings - yes there are some animals in less than ideal conditions and it's NOT near a Metro - welcome to China!!! this is the ONLY place in inner Shanghai... read more

Situated by the River, this is a nice little place to visit - even though it was inside. You can not always get what you want so you just gotta make do. I feel the place was well laid out, and all the exhibits were well presented. It helped me get over my fear of snakes too !! definitely worth... More

For all of its shortcomings - yes there are some animals in less than ideal conditions and it's NOT near a Metro - welcome to China!!! this is the ONLY place in inner Shanghai where my boy could pet and feed an animal (goat)! Also has good classrooms/education team who obviously do their best to connect children and nature, again... More

It was good for education for my 6 years old daughter. She enjoyed it very much, much more than adult. When I visited Shanghai, it was rainy and foggy day, so this was one of the good place to visit.

We visited recently this place. To be honest when I red reviews here I was a bit afraid that I will not like it - some reviews mentioned like bad smell, bad conditions for animals... We did not experience any of those, it was nice and clean cages well maintained. We enjoyed it, kids loved insects and other animals. May... More

This place is right next to the Aquarium and for 60RMB, I thought I would take a look. What a mistake. I should have guessed something was not right when I saw Daffy Duck, Pepy Le Pew and Bugs Bunny figures in the forecourt that I am certain were not authorized! It is more a reptile, turtle exhibit with very... More

I wish I had consulted Trip Advisor before visiting this attraction. It is horrible. Small cages for the turtles. Smelly and unclean. We couldn't get out fast enough. Save your money and go to the aquarium or the Shanghai circus instead.

It is a far cry from the quality of Oceanarium, although located almost next door to it. There is nothing unique and nothing displayed in a inviting way. It is not educating in a way one would expect.

Well, I agree with the previous comments about how much of a horror show these poor animals are kept in. We stupidly decided to go because we thought it was more of a museum place about insects. As soon as we saw the raccoon at the start we were horrified but walked through very quickly so we could alert people... More

On arrival the first thing that I saw was a large raccoon in a tiny dirty horrible cage, hardly able to move swinging from side to side, which is a sign of it going mad. When I walked in, there was a large seal in a pool which would be very nice for a goldfish. I could go on and... More

Do not visit this place, this "tourist attraction"is not just an insect museum, we were appalled to see live animals being kept in dreadful conditions in this dingy place. There was an adult raccoon outside in a cage which would be considered too small for a rabbit exhibiting clear signs of mental distress. Inside amongst other sorry exhibits, there was... More

Staying in Lujiazui

Neighbourhood Profile
Lujiazui
When people speak of Shanghai’s futuristic skyline, it’s the financial district of Luiazui they are speaking of. Shanghai’s most iconic buildings are located in close proximity to Lujiazui’s elevated ring road and swanky eateries. Sky-high shopping and chic bars fill the highrises around the area. As is characteristic of a world-class financial business district, some of Shanghai’s best malls and hotels can be found in the neighborhood. While everyone on the famous Bund side of the river gazes in awe at these amazing structures, all the buildings here, as well as Lujiazui’s riverside promenade, offer great views of the historic buildings all along the Puxi side. The Lujiazui park often hosts music festivals throughout the year, and park goers can party and stroll in the shadow of some of the world’s tallest buildings.
