I feel ignorant, but I really didn't think I would ever find a Catholic church in China, so when I read about She shan Basilica I had to go. We had quite an awesome experience getting there. It was rainy and cold but we still made it out there. It was very peaceful, the fact that the church sits on... More

This renown She Shan Basilica has been reported the apparition of Holy Mother in the early 80s. The local community at that time witnessed the "said miracles " . For those interested, they may go there to explore the findings yourself !

The Catholic Church has always chosen high points, and this is no exception. The walk up is tiring but beautiful as it is through a forest. There is a bus all the way there from the city, or you can use the metro and bus.

Perched on top of a hill (mountain), this historical church is visible for miles around in the Songjiang district of Shanghai. Of course, it is now a national monument. Apart from the architecture of the Basilica, the views from the hilltop is impressive. This is the national pilgrimage site for Catholics in China. Halfway up the hill is a smaller... More

Easy to reach with the metro and take taxi (20¥) or bus (2¥, if you can) to get to the foot of the hill. Admission is free but you'll get a ticket at the north gate entrance Picknick facilities are near to relax your muscles before the climb. The south gate entrance is less popular because it's far from the... More
