A well kept secret to the foreigners. Take the mini bus. Explore the gardens. Where comfortable shoes and pack a picnic and drinks.

The size and scope of this very large botanical garden in the Songjiang district of Shanghai municipality is stunning. If you want to get out of the concrete jungle of skyscrapers and poor air quality then I highly recommend a visit to this garden, the largest of the city's green spaces. Bring your walking shoes as this place will take... More

A lot of the garden has been recently upgraded. Nice conversion of the old quarry into an attractive site. The new glasshouses are crazy huge and beautiful. Just wish they had better soil. Things might grow better!

Absolutely Wonderfull. 60 rmb not very popular because remote. Definitely take the time as it is huge. Plan a bottle of water and if with kids plan a little snack ( snacks in the park are very Chinese and food sold in the park is very loose) best is to arrive in the morning and leave for lunch at 13h00

The place is a nice recommendation to escape the cities grey daily life. We visit the place during October holidays and guess... it was still nice and not over crowded. The garden is really big with a lot of space and well prepared and maintained. Entree fee for an adult is 60 RMB. Quite reasonable. Inside the area you have... More

It was health and safety day for a company I was visiting in Shanghai and they invited me to come along. This botanical garden is simply magnificent. We spent a good part of the afternoon there and barely visited 50% if the park. It is very extensive, including Chenshan Hill with a Pagoda at the top, a deep dip with... More

Getting There: The cheapest way to get there is line 9 Dongjing Station (洞泾). Take Exit 4 and cross the road via the Over-bridge. Then take the Bus No. 19 to Chen Shan Botanical Garden. Will cost around 10-15rmb one way including the metro fare. Taxi is also available at the bus stop. Apparently there are two buses with a... More

Even when there are a lot of people in the garden you can always find somewhere where there are no visitors. Like most gardens or parks in Shanghai, the flowers and landscape changes depending on the season and time of year. They also have massive greenhouses that have spectacular displays year round. The cheapest way to get there is line... More

I took a group of student to the botanical gardens for a nature study. Despite the long drive, the gardens are beautiful in the autumn. The air isn't baking hot and there are many blooming autumn flowers. I took them this time to the quarry and the hill. Both I missed the last time i was here and they are... More
