Went here yesterday. It is one of the most expensive aquariums I have visited (180RMB/adult 120/child) and I left feeling underwhelmed. Here is the breakdown from my experience. Pros: The sunken ship exhibits were unique and interesting The combo promotion for LEGOLAND was fun for my kids to look for the lego fish in the tanks. It had the largest... More

I took my daughter here on a sunny Sunday in Shanghai. We arrived at the beluga whale theater at 11:35. A show was advertised to start at noon and I was hopeful we would get in. With about 30 people in front of us it seemed possible. Not a chance. I finally bought our tickets nearly AN HOUR later. So... More

We've been to this aquarium several times... It can be very nice when not crowded (you can even have the possibility to feed turtles, highlight of the visit for kids) but as usual in China all the efforts are wasted by a poor management and the very loud crowd... It took us 1H to get tickets this time as only... More

Greatly exceeded my expectations. Went with trepidation after almost getting ill from the noise, crowds, and claustrophobic tunnel of echoing doom at the Pudong Aquarium, but this was vastly better. Though it was on a Saturday morning, the crowds were manageable. I could see exhibits easily. I could take photos. I wasn't being pushed along by a slow-motion stampede of... More

This aquarium takes 30 minutes to walk through from end-to-end. The fishes are kept in good condition and the accessibility is good, and that's about it. Signage and education are ok-ish, but no special exhibits that you would not have seen at another aquarium elswhere in the world (or at the Pudong one). Part of the ticket price includes a... More

Although it costs the same as the aquarium in Pudong, Changfeng Ocean World isn't nearly as big. Where the money goes is into the animal show, which is something that Pudong doesn't have, and that is ultimately what is being paid for. The show is all in Chinese, so if you don't speak the language you're looking at 30 minutes... More
