An unexpected surprise civil war history

We didn't intend on going but it turned out to be quite enjoyable. The drive was a little rough in our camary but otherwise it was good. Very nice and relaxing. Interesting civil... read more

We took our grandson last year on spring break. If you have ever visited Vicksburg Military Park you will be sorely disappointed. There isn't much here and you have to drive a long way on a dirt road which would have been ok if there was something to see. It is a pretty drive back to it though but I... More

I have never camped in the park, but it seems to have good facilities. The park is beautiful and has lots of trails and roads for horseback riding, biking, and walking. It is the site of Fort Blakeley and Old Town Blakeley. There is so much history in this place, it is amazing. The very last battle of the Civil... More

Fellow RVers-The campground is rustic and secluded. Large rigs need extra prep before coming here. Most sites are not flat and/or long enough plus lots of trees to dodge depending on the site. Odd utility placement some sites. I use all 30' of my sewer hose. 50amp, sewer and water all sites except tents. The historical sites are interesting as... More

Blakeley State Park is a lovely, nicely wooded campground rich in history. We camped in a 35 foot 5th wheel. Our site was level, roomy, private and had full hookups. In fact, most of the sites were well spaced for privacy. We opened the door each morning to an unobstructed view of the woods. We had a very restful stay.... More

Just to walk on these grounds is a tremendous adventure!! Grounds are well kept and the Rangers are always friendly and informative. Have been here many times over the years and love it! Take time to explore the Saluda Hill cemetery visiting the only known Revolutionary War Veterans grave, as well as the Alabama Veterans Cemetery paying reverence to those... More

Blakeley is always so pretty. A good bit if Civil War History, very nice trails, love the old roadside stand turned mini cabin. The staff are very friendly and have always watched out for me on solo hikes. Have taken my 13 year old niece and she loved it too. The Hiding Tree is a must see

Blakeley State Park was very interesting - especially the historical sections of the original town of Blakeley and the battlefield. You could easily imagine being in the middle of the battle with the self-guided brochure tour. The only reason this park doesn't get 5 stars is the map. At one point we even stopped a park employee and asked how... More

We had no idea this existed as a campsite right in our backyard. This was one of the most secluded camping and hiking experiences we have had in the last few years. It seems like every state and national park we go to now is covered with people and walking trails is like the crowds at a shopping mall during... More
