We were the only people there, so our tour guide asked us what type of tour we wanted; the full tour or just answer our questions as we walked around. We wanted both together. He gave us everything we could have asked for and more !! He answered questions about what was growing the neighboring fields to what each room... More

The restoration of this old mansion has a long ways to go. From the disrepair it was in it is amazing it is still standing. Off the beaten path, but still a worthwhile stop. Hopefully the State of Alabama (current owners) puts some money into fixing this place up so the next generation can enjoy it.

We drove a long way out of our way to visit Belle Mont, only to find it closed and gated on the Wednesday we visited in season (June). I suggest that to call ahead before going there to see what their hours are.

The site was run by the state of Alabama and has been de-funded. We happened upon it while the director was running a photo shoot. Maybe the town of Florence could bring it under it's wonderful tourism umbrella.....hint, hint!

It is a lovely home that has been preserved well along with the grounds. It's importance in the Civil War. There is also an interesting story about the manufacturing of wagons in the area.

The pre-civil war mansion was interesting but the guide spoke too fast and did not enunciate properly. He seemed knowledgable but did not interact well with people. Belle Mont obviously is interesting but parts of the home have not been restored yet. We would have enjoyed it so much more if we could have understood the guide.

This is a nice stop, and the guide is very knowledgeable about every aspect of the mansion, it's history and the pieces found inside. I have always wanted to stop in and finally had the opportunity on a trip to northwest Alabama. The offer discounts to seniors and former military. Worth the trip off the beaten path.

What a unique style house to find in Alabama and very detailed restoration is still ongoing. CHristmas open houses have been popular there and I have attended several.. If you like house museums you will enjoy visiting this one.
