We lucked out and had a sunny day to do our hike thru Tenorio National Park. I hired Alvaro from Odyssey Tours (see their separate review) and had a great time. The waterfall is beautiful and the different areas of the park are amazing - geothermal mineral water that is literally boiling, the convergence of two rivers changing color, and... More

Did a guided tour....didnt really need the guide for the hike, but we did get to meet his family, eat at his family restaurant for lunch and do the family coffee farm tour, so in the end glad we had the guide. Very friendly and very welcoming. Otherwise, a three star review. Location is out of the way and will... More

Road to get there very shaky..rocks I did it in a car but was scared......You will have to pay to park..basically someone watching your vehicle so it doesn't get broken into. They are big on you paying for a guide especially if within 2 hours of the park closing.

This was my favorite part of our trip! The hike was a bit strenuous and we were worried about the color the river because of the amount of rain that had fallen in the previous days but it was perfect and beautiful. The river and lagoon REALLY is the beautiful shade of turquoise you see. We had a great hike... More

Don't miss this astonishing place! Rio Celeste is quite special and you will not regret the effort to get there. The rivers blue color is not photoshopped on pictures you see and is explained at the end of the trail. It will take 1,5-2 hours one way, and you have to go back the same way as there is no... More

Went during the rainy season (November). Arrived in San Jose at 2:00 AM and saw that the rain was supposed to start at noon and last for 3 days. Ended up driving straight up to Rio Celeste and got there right at opening (8:00 AM). Beautiful walk down to the falls / river. It is amazing! Just as we finished... More

This park is amazing. We had a guide who spotted baby pit vipers for us. The guide is not necessary in this park, however, you will see more with one.

Unfortunately when we visited Rio Celeste the water was not the bright blue that it is that you see in a lot of the photos. This can't be helped as its nature after all but a disappointment (especially for those who took a guided tour here for $115 U.S. per person). We had rented a car in Costa Rica so... More

This is such a beautiful spot, very remote but worth the effort of getting there. I was surprised to see tourists from everywhere, as well as volunteer youth from 6 continents, all working together. We were lucky to get there the day before a rainstorm hit, so the trails were good (very steep) and the water, it's famous celestial blue.... More
