If you have some time, please rent a kayak and paddle around the lake. The volcano is gorgeous and area is amazing.

A great boat trip with amazing views. We took this as it was part of our transfer to Monteverde. Thoroughly recommended

When we went to the Arenal area in January, unseasonably rainy weather ruled out view of the mountain and walking. A few weeks ago, at the height of the rainy season, the view was extraordinarily clear, the sky was baby blue and the clouds were...More

Well worth the visit. So many great excursions around the lake. We did a day hike with the observatory, hanging bridges, and waterfall. We also visited the hot springs. So worth it!!

Very beautiful and calm lake beside the volcano. There is a possibility to take a boat trip to get to the other side of the lake, saves you a lot of time and offers great views.

We stopped at a lookout and took photos overlooking the lake. Gorgeous and well worth the detour. The volcano is often hidden by clouds but we lucked out with a beautiful view even after it stated to rain.

We just drove around the lake on a foggy day and it was already breathtakingly beautiful! The lake + the volcano is one of the best sceneries I've ever seen in Costa Rica.

I went to La Fortuna on a solo trip and I booked a tour with Desafio. The lake is beautiful with Arenal Volcano in the background. Highly recommend!

I'm not sure as where we entered the Lake was the boat pickup and drop off. If you contact My Costa Rica they could answer your question. Enjoy your journey.

Rule of thumb with the weather there is: Jan-April - dry. May - July - could rain every day for short period of time. We did some trekking around volcano therefore it could be hot and humid in the summer. Then Aug - Dec - it... More
