About
The family owned and operated natural hot springs, which allow only a limited number of guests each day, provide a private, relaxing oasis during your vacation. There are five pools, one with a cascading waterfall, which reach up to 108 degrees Fahrenheit. There is no better way to unwind after a long day than by visiting the hot springs and treating your body to its naturally replenishing effects. When taking a break from the soothing hot springs, you can dine in the authentic, home-style Costa Rican restaurant.

    Restorative spa, can get busy
We (family with triplets aged ten) loved our evening at the hot springs. We’d zip wired down the volcano in the morning, then climbed up it in the afternoon, so were ready for some chill time. We probably visited on one of the busiest days of the year - 30/12 - but the crowds didn’t detract from the experience. Even the coolest pool is pretty hot, so I’d recommend an evening visit as you’d get cooked if the sun was blasting down too. The on-site restaurant was great. Lots of choice and tasty food, particularly good considering it was catering for the masses. Definitely worth a visit, if only for the pure novelty factor.

Amazing spot to rejuvenate..especially my legs
After hiking two days straight Ecotemales was the perfect place to relax and pamper my sore muscles. Each pool was a different temperature. Start off cool and work your way up to the warmest ones. We went early in the morning so it wasn't very crowded at all. we heard in the evening time it gets busier. There were lockers to keep things safe, Our only remark would be the lunch they provided wasn't our favorite meal but the staff was very nice and the pina colada we had int the water was amazing!

    Beautiful and romantic
My husband and I had 5pm reservations here, but arrived 30 mins early and they let us in. The first hour was perfect, it was so beautiful, quiet and romantic. The natural greenery surrounding the pools was stunning. I ordered a most delicious frozen drink that was so refreshing in the hot water. Unfortunately, an hour into our soak, a group of about 30 people arrived together, and they were loud and obnoxious. They were all in their fifties, but acted like children. It kind of ruined the experience for us after that. Of course, this is no fault of the facility, but it would have been nice if they had staff to remind guests to settle down.....which seems like it shouldn’t be necessary when we’re dealing with adults, but unfortunately, it was that day. Aside from those obnoxious people, which is probably not the norm, the place was fabulous. It was clean, and well cared for. I would recommend the hot springs, especially if you’re spending your days hiking and being active. It’s a great way to unwind after a long day.

Our hotel arranged for us to arrive at 6pm, eat dinner first, then enter the springs as the 5-10pm slots were booked during our stay. This was definitely the right option for us, as it meant dinner was quiet and the buffet was pristine and untouched, plus the springs got quiet after 7.30pm as people started to leave. It was a supremely relaxing experience and a memorable part of our trip.

This was a very lovely way to spend a morning. The staff at check-in and the bar staff were all very kind and welcoming. A lovely young woman from reception even came out to the parking lot to help look when I thought I lost my glasses. My husband and I thoroughly enjoyed the uncrowded conditions and the beautiful jungle surroundings.

Very well kept thermal spa. There were 6 or 8 large areas to bathe and enjoy. The landscaping is very nice, and they tried to keep it in original jungle style. The grounds are super clean. Only downside was food was not easy to get when bathing. Have to dress to go to restaurant. The rest was superb

Extremely disappointed. There was a booking misunderstanding between our hotel and this spa. They were unwilling to make any accommodations to resolve the misunderstanding. We wasted almost 2 hours of our day trying to work things out. Do not recommend.

This is a must-do in La Fortuna. My fiancé and I went on the first day we arrived, expecting that it would be our only time there. However, we went for the next two days that we were staying in La Fortuna, as well. We went during the 5 pm to 9:30 pm slot each time, and I can’t think of a better way to spend your evening. It is truly the most relaxing experience. The bar also makes some amazing drinks - I would highly recommend the daiquiris. They use fresh fruit instead of typical cocktail mixers, so it is so amazing. There’s nothing better than sitting in a hot spring and sipping on a strawberry daiquiri. While it is often busy there, it is so huge that you can easily spread out from people. If you’re looking to go at a quieter time, I would definitely recommend 7-9:30. It is very quiet and peaceful. I wish I could come here everyday! I don’t think I would have any stress in my life ever again.

Whaw, this is a (touristic) but really beautiful and professional place! To enter the ecothermales, you need to make a reservation (or for the day slot from 10:00 to 16:00 or for the evening slot from 17:00 to 22:00) and your reservation is checked at the gate. After receiving a bracelet with a number (to keep track of your expenses) at the reception, you get your towels and a key for a locker at the changing rooms.
The hot pools are really spectacular and consists of 4-5 levels with different water temperatures (from approx. 41°C at the highest level to 36°C at the lowest level), and this all in the middle of the jungle. There are relax chairs available (in and out of the water) and a few cold pools so you can relax and / or cool down when needed (they advice to not be longer than 20 minutes in the hot water). Friendly (and funny) waiters are running up and down from the pool bar with delicious cocktails.
Half-way our stay, we went to the restaurant. As a consequence, we had to dress again as swimming gear is not allowed in the restaurant (and we quickly understood why as this is a really chic restaurant). The buffet had a lot of choice with plenty of really good food. Staff was really friendly and professional. With a full stomach, we went back into the water for half an hour before closing the night completely satisfied.

This was one of the absolute best parts of our vacation in Costa Rica!! It was such a fun way to unwind and relax after so much activity in La Fortuna. The hot springs range in terms of like a hot jacuzzi to a more comfortable heat. There was a place to cool off too. This is something I would definitely do and especially at night because it's so warm during the day and the hot springs would be too much heat with the sun. There was enough space where it didn't feel like everyone was on top of one another, which was great.

After a day of hanging bridges, waterfall and volcano hike, this is the perfect way to spend an evening. We did the thermal springs with dinner package. The food was outstanding and the thermal springs were amazing. The entire facility with garden paths and numerous thermal pools is gorgeous and tranquil.

Spent a delightful Friday evening here. The scenery is beautiful and the pools are well constructed. Service is very good for bringing drinks while at the pool. I really like relaxing in the stone chairs in the upper pool and watching the sky.

Unless you are really hungry, I think it is better to order dinner a la carte. The buffet looked nice, but would be expensive for a family. Highly recommend this experience.
