About
The family owned and operated natural hot springs, which allow only a limited number of guests each day, provide a private, relaxing oasis during your vacation. There are five pools, one with a cascading waterfall, which reach up to 108 degrees Fahrenheit. There is no better way to unwind after a long day than by visiting the hot springs and treating your body to its naturally replenishing effects. When taking a break from the soothing hot springs, you can dine in the authentic, home-style Costa Rican restaurant.

We thought our day was ruined by the rain and then we decided to go to the ecotermales. It is a bit expensive compared to spa in our country however we really spent a great moment. The place is beautiful, water was perfect and the piña colada super tasty!

Our group of four adults thoroughly enjoyed the Ecotermales experience. We arrived mid-morning, and enjoyed several relaxing hours in the various pools. The staff were attentive and friendly, and the pools were never crowded. Our lunch was hearty and delicious, and we appreciated the particular attention to COVID guidelines. Highly recommend Ecotermales!

Relaxing. Warm & cool spots to choose from. Felt as if I was in a quiet & secluded place, not crowded. Highly recommend. Was there at night time & found it is easy to unwind & enjoy the atmosphere.

Very nice place and very limited in terms of number of people which was fantastic.
Only issue is glasses around the springs - people are clearly not “polite” enough to place them elsewhere when empty and they clearly don t have enough staff going around to pick them up.

Beautiful spot, hot springs were nestled in the rainforest. We went in the evening which I highly recommend. The different pool levels have varying temps. Bar is located right near the springs. Dressing rooms were clean and spacious. Lockers and towels provided. We ate a buffet dinner afterwards and the open air setting was lovely. We would definitely return.

The hot spring setting within the rainforest environment. Everything seems to be organized well. However, there are empty cocktail glasses laying everywhere and the some dropped into the water. The service staffs could do a better job picking up the cocktail glasses every hour from the hot spring spot.

There is a need for staffs, every hour to monitor people inside the Ladies bathroom who are using hair dryer for drying wet clothes and causing inconveniences to others. There need to be a strict signboard a “fine for using hair dryer for drying clothes”.

I visited the hot springs with my husband and three teenage daughters. The surroundings were beautiful and having drinks served to us poolside was great. We had dinner onsite at Los Litos restaurant. The food was wonderful and my vegan and vegetarian daughters all found great options. The vegetarian nachos were particularly good. Our waitress was friendly and attentive. All in all, I would strongly recommend a visit to Ecotermales and Los Litos.

We had a wonderful day lounging at Ecotermales! We purchased a day pass from 9am-4pm (including lunch) and had a great time. At the most crowded time (11pm-1pm) there may have been 50 people there, so everyone had their own lounger and it didn't feel like people were in your space.

I would recommend bringing a book and water! Towels are provided.

Lunch was just okay - nothing special.

I think we may have stayed a little too long, but we also enjoyed being there in the morning 9-10 and early afternoon 3-4 because we had the place to ourselves.

Also, I might recommend bringing a swimsuit that you don't care about snagging the fabric - the in-water loungers, sides of pools, and floors are cement-texture, so you'll snag.

Finally, don't bring your kids. They are loud and everyone will hate you for that. This is a relaxing spa-atmosphere, not for kids.

We had a wonderful time at Ecotermales. The pools were incredible with a variety of heat level, and so relaxing. We did the dinner package and showing up at 4pm had the pools to ourselves for a little bit (likely due to the rain). It was an amazing experience.

I visited this property last week (December 3rd) and purchased the package that included dinner. The property itself is really nice. Even in the rain, I enjoyed the experience. Was a bit bummed that not all the pools were open, but the dinner was good, drinks were good... Overall, I had a really nice experience.

That is until I checked out and needed transportation back to my hotel. When I asked the gentleman behind the desk if it would be possible to call a taxi, he assured me it was no problem and to wait right there. He then asked, "Does it matter what kind of taxi I call for you?" Knowing that Ubers are illegal in Costa Rica (even though some still operate) I let him know a red taxi would be fine. He called, I waited.

In the meantime, another couple checked out right after me. They were given a plastic ticket and told to give the ticket to the security agent at the gate as they were leaving. I was given no such ticket. Didn't think much of it, but now I know exactly why.

I got up from the chair to ask the gentleman at the desk if I needed a plastic ticket too. Before I could ask, he simply replied "Your taxi is on his way. He's at the gate now. Your driver's name is Rodrigo. It's a red cab, so don't worry." Shortly after Rodrigo arrived in his red taxi. We were asked at the exit gate for a plastic ticket. Which is when I explained they guy never gave one to me. He only told me "Rodrigo" was coming.

Long story short, Rodrigo totally ripped me off. He charged me $12 US to the cab ride back to my hotel. For comparison, it cost me $3 US to get there and $26 US to get from La Fortuna to Monteverde via the Jeep-Boat-Jeep.

Did I argue with Rodrigo? No. He was a smooth one. We actually had a really fun discussion and chat while he was driving me back. Only when he charged me $12 did I realize I had been totally groomed and that the gentleman working at EcoTermales was totally in on it.

I think I was 100% targeted because I was a solo female traveler. In the grand scheme of things, it's $12. Am I going to miss it? No. But it put a tarnish on that whole night for me and I just want to warn others that might be visiting EcoTermales and ask for assistance calling a taxi. It really is a shame.
