We absolutely loved our visit! Our guide was fantastic, so knowledgeable and you could tell he truly cared for the animals. He shared the history and work of the sanctuary, and we walked away knowing so much more about Costa Rica's native species. I never thought I'd get that close to a toucan, and it was the highlight of our trip!

We came to Proyecto Asis to see and learn about the animals in the region. Our guide was Carlos and he was amazing! He showed us all the animals and birds that are in the sanctuary and we learned so much about them.
It's amazing how much Costa Rican people care about their animals and take care of them. The animals that are hurt or get orphaned are brought to the shelter where they are kept until they get better and once they are ready (if they ever are), they are released back into the wild.
If you visit Costa Rica, the visit to a sanctuary is a must for everyone!

We had a great time at Proyecto Asis. The guide was so enthusiastic and knowledgeable, sharing about the important work of the sanctuary. We also did the volunteer activity where you prepare food for the animals and then watch them eat. Super fun!

The volunteering started off with a super interesting walk around the enclosures. The guide was funny and very knowledgeable about all the birds, monkeys and other animals that they rehabilitate. We were shown their behaviour and why every animal had to be rescued. Afterwards we helped with the days feeding of the animals which was fun and interactive! I really recommend for families with older kids or anyone looking to learn more about Costa Rica’s animals

We have been lucky enough to visit this fabulous facility several times and now I can add a review of a wonderful series of virtual tours. Adriana provided memorable and wonderful experiences for several classes of high school students at a public high school in Florida.

It's clear that she has both a passion for wildlife rescue and for educating and informing people of all ages. The kids were engaged and totally appreciative. This is an incredible option for anyone who cannot travel to Costa Rica.

The virtual tours make you feel like you're there and Adriana's passion and enthusiasm are contagious.

I contacted Proyecto Asis to find out if they'd be able to do a virtual tour with my ESE high school class. Not only did they do it, but Adriana made herself available for as many periods as I'd have her.

Adriana was on a Zoom call with me for all 6 of my classes and gave a great tour every time. She was quick to answer student questions, was able to teach the students about the animals and Costa Rica, and even taught some Spanish.

If you're in La Fortuna, Proyecto Asis is a MUST STOP! Thank you Adriana. High 4 and Pura Vida!

This was a very engaging tour! Carlos was our tour guide and he was very knowledgeable. The staff obviously care deeply for the animals, and it was great to see everything that Proyecto Asis is doing to help re-integrate the animals into the wild.

This was one of my absolute favorite parts of my trip to Costa Rica. I am a big animal lover and I learned so much fascinating information throughout the tour. Carlos was our guide and he was very engaging, knowledgeable, and funny. The tour was a good length and the grounds are beautiful. I enjoyed this so much I am seriously considering returning for a volunteer trip next summer.

One of our families favorite activities while in Costa Rica! We came for the tour and half day volunteer program and absolutely loved it! We learned about the animals and the work done here and it is truly amazing. After our tour, we weighed and divided the food, created different feeding options to challenge the animals. Remember, the point here is Rehabilitation and Release so they don’t want to make it too easy. Then we got to bring the meals and watch them eat, learning even more about each species; the feeding hierarchy, for example. Our 11 and 16 year old loved it and want to make it a tradition when we return. Our guide was amazing and even suggested a restaurant for dinner (Nene’s in La Fortuna) that was one of the best that we had on our trip. Our son is now addicted to Tres Leches…Great experience all around!

We came here so my son, who's autistic, could see the animals up close. We were treated to a special tour, which was perfect for my son as he wouldn't have done well keeping up with the group. The owner and the staff were wonderful! The animals are clearly cared for very well. It was great to see them up close but sad that most of them were previously illegal pets that are not able to be returned to the wild.
