We had a wonderful morning walk here with a guide (Paz? Pas? - not sure how to spell it but he was great). The center is beautiful and the habitats are all very natural. It's definitely worth it to spend the extra few dollars to get a guide. We would not have noticed any of the animals on our own,... More

Our guide was very knowledgeable and patient in answering all the questions we had. We spent nearly 4 hours walking the grounds with him. He was able to point out many more things than we'd have seen on our own. It was our favorite stop in La Fortuna. Sloths!!!

I wish I could remember our guide's name (he was a young man with braces) because he went above and beyond and I wanted to say thank you. He held up our camera to his telescope and played with the settings to make sure we got good close-up photos of the sloths, caymans and birds feeding their young in the... More

A leaf bearing eggs of the red-eyed green tree frog had been cut from a palm over a pond and moved to above a water-filled tyre, so that people could more easily be shown them. The eggs were now on the upper side of the leaf and at far greater risk of being predated. Our guide, PAZ, found the frog... More

Dear costumer: we sorry to hear such bad comment about our center and tour guide Paz. The reserve in order to increase frog eggs hatching chances tend cut off the leaves where they were primordiarlly laid, this because the fist place won´t give the facilities to make it. We hope you understand this. concerning about our guide, we will take... More

We visited Ecocentro Danaus on a whim as we were leaving the Arenal/La Fortuna area. It ended up being one of the highlights of our trip. Ecocentro Danuas is not a zoo but an area that has been re-vegetated and is surrounded by agricultural land. We saw more animals at Ecocentro Danuas than any other location on our trip (including... Tour began with viewing numbers of brightly colored birds that came to the fruit that was left out for them. Walter was our guide, and with 30 years of experience he truly was superb. This area was originally cleared for agriculture, and 17 years ago was purchased and left to return to nature. Quite an amazing transformation in so few... More

It's a nice little walk to view mostly hidden animals. Definitely you will need the guide which is $5 more per person, but I thought it was a little overpriced and it felt like a zoo with no cages. Did not have that "natural rain forest feel" you get in other places.

Myself and my girlfriend decided to do the nightwalk and we both loved it. There was just us and another nice couple and our very knowledgeable guide. We saw lots of animals which I'd never have spotted without our guide. Within 10mins we saw a sloth, poison darts frog, red eye frog and a couple of other types of animal.... More

Farmer ants and how they live and work, beautiful birds and how they mate (birds and bees lesson), sloth, best time is in the am. short taxi or public bus ride from La Fortuna, tour guide was very knowledgeable. best display and lowest prices for Maleku...
