Our tour was a last minute decision as we had a free day in Arenal. Despite staying the hotel across the road, they still came and picked us up and took us home after, which was good as it had started to rain towards the end. My horse was Pinto Jr and followed the lead horse Loco very closely. I... More

My family of five (husband and kids 18/15/12) went on the ride with Oscar on 4/20. This was a last-minute decision and we are so glad we did it! Kendall explained to us that the ride is totally off the road - maybe other companies spend time with their riders on the paved road and this is a plus. Only... More

Oscar took myself and son out and he was great. He lead us out through the fields and as we wanted to try it and he felt us ready we had 3 goes at galloping the horses. This was awesome! The scenery is gorgeous and views across the valley breathtaking.

Oscar and Kendall were fantastic guides. Our daughter is an expert rider- the rest of us we're not (my first time) and they matched us up with the perfect mounts - mine was "Loco" -go figure. The scenery was beautiful - the conversation enriching- and the experience one of a kind. We encountered howler monkeys and a sloth on our... More

Happy horses, breath-taking views, friendly guides. We went horseback riding to the base of the volcano with our three children (11, 9, 9) and we all had a fantastic time! The guides were very helpful and kind to our children and made sure they were well-taken care of in the more difficult parts of the trail. This is not flat-surface... More

Don Tobias was the last Adventure tour we did on our vacation, it was by far the best! We have enjoyed many adventure activities, and love them all, but don Tobias was awesome! Oscar and Kendal our guides were great fun! Super helpful, and went out of their way to make sure we were safe and having fun and always... More

Sightseeing horseback rides has become a staple of our family vacations, but none have the quality and views of Cabalgata Don Tobias at Arenal. Our guide was Oscar, who picked us up at our hotel, Lomas del Volcan. Note that we booked this separately as Lomas del Volcan works with another operator. Oscar had impeccable English, incredible knowledge of the... More

Guides take great care ensuring your safety and show you a wonderful time from pick up to drop off. Horses are well tempered and trained. They can gear the ride by terrain for ability level but altogether you need to be somewhat fit and balanced to get the most out of the excursion. My husband had never been on a... More

Recently, we travelled to CR and went riding in different locations. All were good but Don Tobias was exceptionally good. The quality of the guide, the vistas of the volcano and valley, the intimate snack location on the mountain and certainly the horses all combined to make this riding location the best of all that we experienced. I would highly... More

Our family decided to book this excursion on our last day after two days of ziplining, hiking and thermal pool excursions. We made arrangments for the 8:30 horseback ride at Don Tobias at 7:10 am and they were there to pick us up at our hotel at 8:20. This mainly private property is tucked close under the volcano, offering spectactular... More
