- Kerry QDana Point, California110 contributionsNature Trail in La FortunaOur guide at Bogarin Trail made sure we had a great experience showing us and teaching us about the nature and wildlife along the trail. He was very knowledgeable and knew where to look to get the best view of the animals. We went in the morning to get the best chance to see many animals.Visited January 2023Travelled with familyWritten 3 January 2023
- EGTATualatin, Oregon52 contributionsWildlife viewing in townGreat night tour with William. I don’t think we knew what we were in for, it was truly a wild experience, animals in their territory rather than observed from afar. Bring a strong flashlight and have your phone at the ready for pictures.Visited February 2023Travelled with friendsWritten 1 February 2023
- Someone cool1 contributionThe best spot for sloth spotting! This was my first time going to Costa Rica and when I come back, I can guarantee that I will come back! The pineapple was, NO LIE, the best I have ever had. It is a lot better with a guide. Without our guide, William, we would not have seen as much as we did today.Visited March 2023Written 18 March 2023
- Adrian BMontreal, Canada18 contributionsMarvelousVery passionate and knowledgeable staff, it was a great experience! Weather may not always encourage animals to be obviously observable, but the staff was very helpful to point them out. We chose a tour-less visit and they still assisted. Marvelous!Visited March 2023Travelled as a coupleWritten 25 March 2023

I didn’t pay for a guide but I did tip them for the things I was able to see. We went a bunch of times.Visited May 2023Travelled with familyWritten 30 April 2023
- Amanda SSouth Carolina8 contributionsGreat visit! We enjoyed our tour of Bogarin Trail very much! William was a very knowledgeable guide and showed us SO many creatures and plants and gave us great history of the area. He was also very experienced in how to get the best photos of the creatures he showed us, while at the same time, not getting too close (most photos are taken through a scope). He was very patient with our 3 and 6 year olds, answering their questions and keeping them engaged. It was the slow season, so he even offered to show us more after our tour time was over.We are glad you have a great time with us... - Peter a18 contributionsA must do while you are in the Fortuna areaOne of the highlights of our trip to Costa Rica. Our first time in Costa Rica and this was a gem. William was our guide, I highly suggest getting a guide, as it would be very difficult to see the animals and get the experience of this beautiful, tropical rainforest, and all it offers. We ended our time with some fresh pineapple. Amazing saw incredible creatures, near and far. Highly recommend.!!!Visited August 2023Travelled with familyWritten 13 August 2023
- Parker SSandy, Utah10 contributionsA truly magical experience. What an amazing experience! We had Giovanni Bogarin as our tour guide and he did not disappoint! We knew exactly where to find all sorts of amazing animals and you could tell he absolutely loves what he does and how this once cow pasture has turned into a paradise! 100% would do this again!Visited August 2023Travelled as a coupleWritten 15 August 2023
- Julian V2 contributionsAn amazing place to see a huge variety of animalsThis was one of the best excursions we went on during our trip! The guides have an obvious respect for nature. I would say that a guide is mandatory for the park as we wouldn't have seen 10% of the animals without him pointing them out to us. Alex was a very informative guide who answered almost every question we could come up with.Visited August 2023Travelled as a coupleWritten 20 August 2023
- Tikitiki212Wisconsin122 contributionsAmazing wildlife tourIncredible tour! We did this on our first full day in Costa Rica and it was the perfect introduction to the rainforest and wildlife. Our guide was amazing and we saw SO many animals and insects. We learned a ton too. After this tour, we felt we didn't need to have guides at every other place we went, since we had already seen soooo much wildlife at Bogarin! Definitely recommend this. Our entire group from teens to seniors loved it.Visited March 2023Travelled with familyWritten 30 October 2023

It was absolutely amazing! Alex is a highly professional guide with eagle eyes, who really loves his job, you feel it permanently. Thanks for having us! It was a blast. We even saw 2 sloths fighting, that only happens once a year! We hope the one, that fell from the tree is doing okay! So thanks again for that wonderful Tour :)

We went to Bogarin to do our own self guided walk during the day and managed to find a few things, but knew with how excellent the trails were there was more to see. We decided to book a night guided walk and did this with William.
The experience was far better than we could ever have hoped. We saw everything we could have imagined and more! William and all the team were great and very knowledgeable.

We really wanted to see some sloths, so opted to do this. Our guide did a great job of finding quite a few animals, including frogs, lizards, owls, toucans, other birds, and a few sloths. The sloths are next to impossible to spot on your own. It was nice that our guide had a spotting scope that he would set up for each of us to take a look at things. We had our own binoculars, but his scope was much better.

I can see why this would get a good rating however there's now a new bar beside The Bogarin Trail. On the day I went the music was so loud from the bar it immediately guaranteed I would not be viewing any wildlife let alone sloths (they will move away from the noise and area) or the enjoyment of just walking the trials listening to nature. All you hear is loud music. I feel really bad for The Bogarin Trail business and the animals.
Please don’t patronize or promote Patron Cocktails ( the offender of the loud music) the owner and management don’t care if they are disruptive to the surrounding hotels, businesses (bogarin trail) nor helping preserve the conservation of the wildlife in the area which brings in the tourism. It’s truly sad.
If you arrive and the music is blasting from the bar save your money you won’t see any animals.

The tour is a couple of hours but packed with all kinds of animals. I am glad we had Williams as a guide; the guy is a walking encyclopedia, knowledgeable, and loves animals.

Mar was amazing and was super keen-eyed in spotting wild life! Would definitely advise using a tour guide, I would not have spotted anything by myself.

We had an amazing guided tour with Mar today! She is very knowledgeable and showed us so much. We likely wouldn't have seen many animals without her, and we got to see 4 sloths!

Our guide William was amazing.. he has been doing this for 35 years. He pointed out a lot of sloths, frogs and different interesting animals and also shared with us a lot of information. Definitely would recommend this trail with a guide!

Hi there looking for a tour for 4 adults in the next 3 days. Do you have availability and how much please would it be? Thank you

I agree with everyone that a guide is worth the money. All the people working there were pleasant and helpful, a group of 4 people should not be a problem if you just show up. I’d go early, your admission is good all day, you could take a break (there’s a good food court type place nearby) and go back and wander around on your own.

We called the day of to inquire about a tour. They let us know the prices. They offered to have us book over the phone but we just let them know we were going to arrive in about an hour and ended up booking upon arrival. Highly recommend going with the guide to be able to see the wildlife.

You can show up minutes before any guided tour scheduled, but we recommend to save your space in advance since we work with small groups. Besides booking is free of charge!

We toured with Geovani over 12 yrs ago and loved his tour. He was an amazing bird guide and absolutely passionate about birds. I would love to contact him if we come again. Does anyone have his contact info? Thanks!

Agreed. They are very responsive. Not sure if they would give his personal information out specifically, but it seems that he is often there and I think he had a public email or social media page to reach him at.

Hello. Do I have to take the tour and pay $35 or I can just pay the general entrance fee $10 and tour on my own? Thanks

Get a guide for this tour! We thought we could do CR without a guide and finally broke down after many hikes of not seeing anything. This was my absolute favorite thing we did. The guide William was fantastic he showed us the blue jean frog, the red eye tree frog, 7 sloths and some caiman along with tons of birds. I can honestly say we would not have seen anything but maybe one sloth if we had been on our own. Also had great conversation about his life growing up in CR.

What is the best time of day to do this tour to see the most sloth activity? We'll be there the first week of September. Thanks!

We will be visiting in April and staying at Tabacon. Does anyone have any experience with getting transportation to the trail without a rental car. Assuming we can just take a taxi but just curious of others experience. Thanks!

You can ask at the Reception of Tabacon Hotel to call a taxi for you. We have many clients that have been doing that :)
