We did the farm tour and it was absolutely a marvelous experience!! We made cane juice, chewed on sugar cane and the adults even got a shot of their own moonshine! It was so informative and we learned so many things about the inner working of their farm, we learned about coffee and how they make their special, delicious “honey coffee”. The kids loved tasting all the fruits straight from the tree and seeing and feeding the animals and if this wasn’t amazing enough we then were taken to the restaurant where we made our own tortillas and we were served a delicious lunch, including a lovely dessert and a perfect and tasty coffee!! We asked for vegan meal and they were happy to acomódate and we had homemade tortilla chips with spicy salsa, salad with a yummy dressing, rice, beans, a yam dish, yuca and steamed vegetables. All from their own farm! The meal is plentiful and delicious and served buffet style so you can go back for 2nds or even 3rds if you wish. Cannot stress enough how worth the money it is!!! Family owned and operated, this place exudes of warmth and Costa Rican hospitality!

Our friends did the coffee bean plantation tour which took us from berries on the bush to the end result of lightly roasted beans. Every step of the way, our guide was knowledgeable and answered all our questions about coffee. We also got to experience the sugar cane press and drank the super delicious sugar cane juice fresh from the stalk! They also let us try the sugar cane liquor and boy that's 40% proof right there...super strong!
At the end of the tour, we got to drink the freshly made coffee, with fried tortilla drizzled with sugar cane syrup, and a fried yucca which looked and tasted like hash browns. The local cat that's winding around your legs at the table would like a few pieces of your fried yucca.
I learned a lot about the eco systems to make sustainable coffee, and would recommend this tour for any java aficionados.

We were welcomed by Andres, who is extremely knowledgeable, down to earth and friendly. He gave us the tour of the place, we made sugar cane juice, roasted and ground coffee, drank it with tasty snacks, but most importantly we enjoyed hearing from him about farm owners' and staff's appreciation of natural solutions for environmental balance and sustainability. They love nature and they love what they do!

We enjoyed our coffee tour so much that in the evening we booked our dinner with them, took taxi and came to enjoy simple but very tasty food and great company with Andres, who by the end of the evening seemed like he was our old friend. We are the family two teen sons, highly recommend this place for other visitors of different ages. We wished we booked our chocolate tour with them as well!

We were so excited to try this place after reading all the great reviews but ended up leaving quite disappointed. We did the tour with sugar cane juice making and cooking class. Unfortunately, our tour guide wasn’t very informative, spoke very softly & seemed evasive when people asked questions. Sugar cane juicing was interactive for the kids. We got to try some sugarcane juice at the end as well as moonshine made from it. The cooking class was very simple. Made corn tortillas, gallo pinto and a salad dressing. I would have been nice if they gave us a copy of the recipes since it’s hard to write down when you are cooking. Instead, I was told to email them to ask for the recipes. The buffet was tasty. They had beef, chicken, picadillo, rice & beans. Coffee was served at the end with a fried tortilla, that was very stale, covered with a molasses syrup. Overall an alright experience if you are looking to kill some time on a rainy day.

During an amazing trip to Costa Rica with lots of memories made, the dinner tour at Arenal Vida Campesina was my favorite experience. Roberto was an excellent tour guide, offering us a glimpse into the operation of the farm and its crops. We got to sample some things during the tour, he explained each item's food and medicinal uses, and we harvested some cilantro and lemon verbena for dinner. We got to see how sugar cane is harvested and taste its juice right after being pressed.

When it came time to prepare dinner, even my five year old got involved, helping to make tortillas. We helped to prepare a salad and dressing, and cut some veggies to make gallo pinto, which has followed me home as an instant staple household dish. The picadillo they served is my favorite dish I had in all of our meals in Costa Rica (I'd love to have the recipe). And the coffee they served was the best of our trip, too. Make sure you definitely grab some to take with you. I can't recommend this experience enough. Thank you for a great memory, Arenal Vida Campesina!

Absolutely phenomenal experience. We did the coffee, chocolate and cooking/farm tour experiences and it was worth every penny. This is a little piece of paradise. Our kids (7, 12 and 15) were thoroughly entertained and educated.

Our guide, Andrés, was wonderful and created amazing memories with us. From making end enjoying chocolate to roasting coffee and harvesting coconuts, every moment was amazing and educational. The dinner was phenomenal.

Don’t miss this.

We went to Arenal Vida Campesina for a farm tour and meal and it was such a delight! Andras is an extremely knowledgable and friendly guide, teaching us about all the different plants they have on the property, their purpose and value, and how they are conscientious of the amount they harvest to make sure they do not waste any of their crops. We got to see everything including spices, fruits, coffee, vegetables, sugar cane, and many more! After the tour we did a small cooking class using many ingredients grown on the farm and enjoyed the meal on the property after cooking. Overall such a wholesome and nourishing experience! They also sell home grown coffee which is a great gift to bring back home!

We had dinner here one night during a night safari tour and the meal and service were excellent.

We started by patting out our own tortillas which was a great deal of fun. This is a family run operation and everyone gets involved including the daughter and dog.

They make a special sauce and we found it to be very good. The chicken, salad, veggie dinner was very good and we all cleaned our plates with the exception of the black beans which two of us didn't care for.

We highly recommend this place.

My family and I took a trip to Costa Rica in the middle of January 2022, and we are so glad that we visited Arenal Vida Campesina. We had the joy of spending our afternoon with Jose and touring around the property. Jose was extremely friendly and extremely knowledgeable about the plants and animals on the farm and about the coffee making process. As an avid coffee drinker, I found the tour to be very educational and interesting. Even if you don't like coffee, this tour is still fascinating and fun! We did have a few people in our group who don't enjoy drinking coffee, and that did not inhibit them from having a great time!

This was a fun tour especially if you love plants/gardening. Got to see many plants and learn their culinary and medicinal uses. Tour started at 5pm so unfortunately the latter part was in the dark. Great fun though to press sugar cane and drink fresh cane juice! The cooking lesson is just chop veggies and form tortillas but it’s fun. The food is good, papaya and potatoes hash was great! Very unexpected.
