About
My name is Huber Quiros, I have worked in agriculture my whole life. Eleven years ago a health problem made me realize that the “traditional” way of producing food causes a lot of damage to ecosystems, to the people who produce it and also to those who consume it. So I decided to change our lifestyle to give an example and a better life to my family. In this Organic Paradise we produce practically everything we need to live, respecting and protecting the environment and sharing our lifestyle with those who visit us. We dream of inspiring each visitor, so that more and more people are interested in the origin of the food they consume and consider how its production affects the environment.

If you get a chance to visit Costa Rica, add this organic farm tour to the top of your "Must do list"! My husband and I brought his mother and our 3 kids ages 19, 20, & 23. First we brought the kids surfing in Nosara and then ziplining in La Fortuna but THIS TOUR is what they raved about!
We had the most charming experience as Uber walked us through his "Farm-acy" showing us all the medicinal/edible plants with interactive demonstrations. Get ready for a fun time! Uber has a huge sense of humor. Uber's story will warm your heart and inspire you! The farm volunteers that went on the tour with us were also a pleasure to be with.
Near the end of our tour we made a delicious drink of ginger root, turmeric root and sugar cane....all fresh from the garden of course! Then, we all sat down and ate a meal together that was prepared by the lovely cook. My husband and I are "foodies" so we get excited when we taste amazing food with chef inspired flavors. We were blown away with how amazing the food was! For dessert, Uber showed us how to roast Cocao and make it into a chocolate bar. We all got to be apart of the process.
We're excited to come visit again. They are in the process of building a couple of structures for a "Glamping experience" so we plan to return for a stay on the farm when they complete their project!

We toured the herb, medicinal plant, and food garden. In Oregon we raise our own fruits and vegetables for the year. The word “organic” does not begin to describe Hunter’s practices. The garden is a complete and complicated ecosystem, from hedge barriers that discourage a particular pest from entering a field with root vegetables to insecticides made exclusively from plants on the property to trees with deep roots to nourish the ones with shallow roots. People who come to study organic agriculture from around the world often come here for their practicum. I thought I understood this, but our visit here was mind-altering.

I stay at the farm for 5 nights. Because of covid I was the only guest. I was feeling like a part from the farm, because the people are so nice. They help me whit all my problems and are very flexible. The farm is in the middle of nature. I have seen a lot of animals and the permaculture is really nice to see. A good place to learn a lot of things about nature and animals, to relax and feel the helpy culture of costa rican people. Thank you so much for this relaxing days

This is a family run organic farm. They want you to come and see how they have tried to transform farming for the last 10-15 years. You are taken on a tour of the farm and get to take part in some of the activities such as pressing sugar cane. Then you get to taste sugar cane spirits. Farther on you learn about cocoa and get to make chocolate from the beans. You roast them, crush them, and eventually make your own chocolate to your own taste. Then a cup of hot chocolate. They served a traditional Costa Rican lunch and then treated us to a display of dance performed by some of the children.

Hubert Sr and Hubert Jr greeted us as we arrived and Hubert Jr conducted the tour. We left right at 4p as scheduled.
We got an educational tour through their family garden. He gave us different herbs and had us guess through smell and taste what they were. We collected the herbs we needed for dinner.
After the tour, we went to the pavilion where we made our own fresh sugarcane juice. Then we added the herbs we had collected and made a flavored / herbal sugarcane drink.
After cleaning up, we went to the vegetable garden and collected the vegetables we needed to make a fresh salad with dinner.
We returned to the house where we met mom who had everything ready for us to start preparing dinner. We chopped everything for the meal. We learned how to make chicken and rice - including all the seasonings. We then learned how to make tortillas and how to cook them up. We learned about plantains and different ways to cook them. We sliced them thin and fried them up as part of our meal.
We sat down to dinner - Hubert Jr and Mom joined us. We enjoyed a very nice discussion. The entire experience was educational, fun, and very personable. We got to experience a bit of Costa Rican culture with a local family.
Hubert Jr was extremely friendly and knowledgeable. He was very enthusiastic and proud of his heritage. When he discovered we were interested in the local wildlife, he took his time to point out the different animals and birds we saw while walking through the gardens. His English was excellent.
Mom was extremely friendly as well. She didn’t speak English, but we were able to communicate well enough with Hubert Jr jumping in when needed.
I highly recommend this activity if you’d like to learn a little about the local and traditional foods of Costa Rica.

We were greeted warmly and started with a tour of the farm including medicinal garden and then shown some of the crops - some of which we picked to use later.
This part was better than the cooking element which was more of a demonstration, although we did get to make tortillas.
Overall it was good but overpriced for what it was.

This was an incredible and immersive experience. Learning to cook a traditional Costa Rican meal after touring the family’s organic farm and picking the fresh ingredients was awesome! Our guide spoke English very well. We cooked in their family home with his mother. It surpassed our expectations ten fold. Glad we could support local and learn about their everyday life.

True Costa Rican hospitality and farm experience. Hubert is an excellent guide and host. He speaks English and is very knowledgeable about the plants grown on the farm. The sugar cane juice was lovely, the food...typical Costa Rican...was fresh and delicious. I'm ready to sautee plantains on my own now! His mother is a delight. Excellent opportunity to learn more about Costa rican food and enjoy a comfortable experience

We wanted a farm experience and WOW did we find one amazing experience in Costa Rica. This is a hidden gem that everyone should add to their list of things to do. We got to meet Huber and get a private tour of his farm and property. His story was inspiring and it was very cool seeing how much his beautiful farm produces and puts on the table. It has inspired us to look more into the food we consume and where we get it from. We got to wrap up the evening tour cooking up a traditional Costa Rican meal with Huber and his lovely wife. They are such a warm and welcoming family. This was by far our favorite and most genuine feeling Costa Rican experience. We can't wait to come back and do it again!

Hello, would you have openings on December 25th? I have an allergy to sugar, gluten, and dairy. Could we use honey in place of sugar? Thank you.

Is the private cooking class in English or only in Spanish? My family would like to participate but we don't speak Spanish. Thank you.
