The drive up to this volcano is amazing in and of itself. We stopped for some amazing coffee at a location on the way and we were able to overlook the coffee fields just as the mists came in. Was amazing. You have to try...More

The Poas Volcano is a must see while in Costa Rica. I visited this volcano as part of a combined tour with a coffee plantation and waterfall gardens. Up top, you are literally in the clouds. Once the clouds clear the view is amazing.

A wonder of nature you can not miss, walking up the slope, watching eye-catching Costa Rican flora and colourful birds, and that gigantic lake on the volcano with the clouds that cover and uncovers it like magic. Awesome!

Currently this is closed to the public due to it being active and not safe. If it is open when you are there it's a beauty but, may not be visible due to the clouds

The best time to view the volcano is dry the dry season. Between late February through June. We went in late March, and it was perfect. Good Luck.

We visited in March and the volcano became active a couple of weeks later. It must be closed due to possible volcanic activity.
