A short hike to the foot of the volcano. Not much to see along the way, little signage and view at the end is not much closer to the volcano than other view points in the area.

We did the volcano hike as part of a full day tour, including the Hanging bridges and waterfall. It was an easy not too strenuous hike up the volcano. Interesting sites, and a knowledgeable guide about the history of the area and how the volcano...More

This hike was great, espicially because we had a private tour. We booked through Viatour, and it never has failed us. We had an awesome time learning about the history of this active volcano and how the wildlife was impacted by its activities. Our tour...More

Travelling this area off season you need to be prepared for rain. In my experience the weather forecasts are never precise in this region. A good poncho worked well for us as it also covered our gear and a good waterproof bag for your phone...More

Great place but definitely you need an off road vehicle to drive around the Volcano. Easy walking and family friendly

the volcano hadnt erupted in 7 years and the walking paths to the old volcanic rock fields werent anything special. However, coupled with mineral springs and some good excursions, a few days in Arenal was worth experiencing.

Yes. I believe it is called the 1962 Trail, or something like that. You do not need a guide. It's about $10 to enter the park. If your goal is a good hike with good views, no guide necessary. We saw very few people with... More
