Unique Cave Exploring Experience

This was the best cave experience Ive ever had! The hike to get to the caves alone was incredible! We saw lots of monkeys in the trees on the walk up to the caves. Once at the entrance we got all setup to lower down into the caves. If you have a fear of heights this may not be for... More

If you love caves, you need to visit Barra Honda. Take the national park guide tour and you will walk along slightly rugged paths and learn a lot about the plants and trees of the area. Our tour guide was Yanys and she was great. The viewpoint look out (Mirador) to the farmlands and the Gulf of Nicoya was spectacular!... More

The true beauty of Costa Rica isn't the club scene, it isn't the Spring Break wild nights, its the once and a life time experience to go on a true quest. To step right into Jurassic Park, face the elements as an adventurer, and come out a modern day Indiana Jones(minus the small Asian child following you around). Barra Honda... More

We had the chance to visit Barra Honda last week for an unforgettable tour. This place is amazing! Our group was led by two local guides: Saturnido and Jenny. It was an all-Costa Rican group that day so our tour was given in Spanish. We hiked through the forest towards the cavern with Saturnido, a local man with more than... More

Went here for a hike and cave tour. A little pricey for what it was. First the trek was a little rough but got to see monkeys, frogs, and iguanas. Our guide was great (no English) but funny in his own way. Now the cave, buckled in and started the decent. Got to bottom and felt a little sketchy, slippery,... More

Loved this place! The hike in is well worth it! Our guide was very helpful and knowledgeable about the history and flora and fauna of the area! The caves were spectacular!

The caves are stunning, altho the drop in entry is not for the faint of heart. I reccomend getting there early so you don't have a massive tour group to go with! (I went first thing, and it was just my friends and I in the group, which made everything more convenient). The only drawback was the density of the... More

Not sure why other reviews fail to mention this, but the number of mosquitoes biting away at you is appalling. I had 15% deet and it was worthless. The whole visit was shadowed by us being eaten alive. Bring strong percentage deet and wear long sleeved clothing, otherwise, like us, you will find it completely unenjoyable. In fact, if you... We drove 1 1/2 hours with high hopes of a great cave experience. We have done other tours in different parts of the US so we were excited. When we arrived we asked about a guide, but they were all busy working on the trails and roads so we just went without one. We drove up the dirt road to... More

When we arrived we decided not to take the tour up to the cave because we wanted to take our time walking through the well marked trail. Once we arrived to the cave you gear up with very professional safety gear. The climb down is nerve wrecking! Once inside a guide will show you around and explain all the formations.... More
