I decided to leave a review on the Flamingo version rather than the original to help clarify the confusion.

There is no store front or store or flag or anything in Flamingo. A car will meet you at the point on Google maps to take you to the other beach to wait for the zodiac for pick up. Best to be in swim suit only as the water goes up to your waist in order to get into the boat.

As another reviewer mentioned and Michael so defensively responded to, I understand what the reviewer was saying about the boat. I'm used to going diving on a boat with a skipper and crew at minimum. Rocket Frog comes with an inflatable boat with a skipper of sorts and two divemasters. There's barely any room to move. I don't recall seeing the dive flag on the boat.

I'm also a bit concerned with the lack of support the divemasters have. I hope they're paid appropriately because they're doing the jobs of the typical crew plus the diving itself.

As another reviewer on the other Rocket Frog listing mentioned, I've never been diving with so many people on nitrox. Usually the skill upgrade I hear about is buoyancy control or advanced open water. It didn't really matter to me since the dive computer that came with the rental gear didn't work. It would have been interesting since it's the first time I see the computer included with the rental gear.

What I did like is the expectation that you're competent. We're all certified so should know what we're doing. Many dive shops especially catering to tourists sway more to the fun relaxation side rather.

All in all, there was good and not so good. I don't dive that often but I have gone with enough dive shops to say I feel Rocket Frog has room for improvement.

The boat captain and our dive master were helpful in setting up our gear and ensuring we got into the water OK. This was our first-time diving in 2 years for 2 of us and > a decade for the other 2, and the diving was somewhat challenging since the water was cold, weather was windy, the visibility was poor at best (< 5 feet) and the boat was an inflatable. We felt that too many divers were on the boat making it difficult to get around. We were not given an accurate location where to meet the dive master and had to wade out to and back from the boat. In hindsight, I should have researched diving in Costa Rica more before booking the experience.

The staff here really care about you having a great experience. I completed my open water diver with Nico and he was a great instructor. He made sure I was comfortable and that I felt confident in the water by the end of the course. I did a total of 8 dives with them and wished I could have done more. If you are thinking about anything diving related make sure these guys are your first call. Highly recommended. Thanks again Nico for the great dive memories!

The dive professionals with Rocket Frog are top notch. Jaime was an awesome teacher and guide. The others on the boat were gracious and very helpful.

A friend and I spent a week diving with Rocket Frog Divers. It was a memorable experience. Daily we were picked up at the resort (usually by one of the owners) and taken down to the beach to get on the dive boat. We did 3 tank dives for 5 of the days and 2 tank dives the other two. We did excursions to Catalinas as well as Isla Murciolago. Needless to say we spent a lot of time with the staff. I found them to be friendly and a lot of fun to dive with. The dive boats are run "valet style." Gear is set up often prior to arriving on the boat. They allowed us to leave our gear with them and they rinsed it daily. Despite it being valet, they still encouraged everyone to check their gear (yes even professionals can make a mistake) - a great example of safety first. During the week I noted a few hiccoughs with communication between staff but issues were always remedied. It is really a well run dive operation. If you do the Isla Murciolago excursion, sit towards the back of the boat if you have back issues. If there is chop, then you are going to get bounced a bit towards the front of the boat. If I am ever in the area again, I would definitely use this dive operation!! Well done, Michael and Meri

I've always wanted to get my Open Water Certification and now being well in the 55+ age category was a bit worried about being able to handle the class. Max, my instructor, was wonderful throughout the entire process! His instructions were clear and he was always calm and patient. My four open water dives were amazing and I am hooked! I am so glad I found Rocket Frog Divers.

What an incredible dive experience! I really love it when you find a business, so good, that you just have to write a review. Nothing was a problem, personalized service, great equipment, variety of boats, dive sites, so well looked after by experienced instructors, dive masters. They really listen to what you like, what you’re looking for and then go above and beyond tho orchestrate that for you. Thank you Mike, Matt, Mike, Liv, and all the team for 4 days incredible diving.

My husband and I had a great time diving Dos Sombreros and Roca Sucia! We saw multiple white tip reef sharks, an octopus and lots of fish. During our surface interval we saw a pod of six humpback whales! It was incredible!! Staff was professional and knowledgable.

Excellent experience!

2nd shop tried out as part of my "Catalinas exploration" week.

The good: Quick, easy communication with Michael. Equipment, shop and staff were great. Be aware that they have 2 shops though: one in Playa Cocos, one in Playa Flamingo. The PF one is located within the Margaritaville resort and a little harder to find (staff of the resort didn't know where it was). Make sure you are clear which shop you want to dive from. Very good dive with a small group (3 customers), a few mantas, sharks, rays... yeah!! They were also super nice in allowing me to ride back to their Playa del Cocos shop after my last day with them as I was heading there after a couple of nights in PF. Saved me a taxi or a bus... and had a cool adventure along the "Monkey Trail"! Last but not least, Hannah! What a great person! She's been there for many years, so knows the sites, both in and out of the water, and was great on and off the boat.

The bad: Conditions at the Catalinas. Windy (which made the trips to the sites "iffy") and visibility (5-7m), both apparently normal for that time of the year (Bat Cave is even completely closed during the change of the season). But, nothing that the crew could be held responsible for.

Playa Flamingo is a more upscale, residential part of the coast. Restaurant/bar options are more limited, but it's perfect if you have a nice place to enjoy the views, or a car to move around.

Excellent shop, well recommended... especially if Hannah happens to take care of you! :)
