I read about this hike on Trip Advisor and we also loved this experience. My name is Bernie so I enjoyed having Berny as our guide. Of course, Berny was amazing. He was also excellent at the explaining the many different plants in this ecosystem, a tropical dry forest. This private reserve was once a cattle farm and mango orchard... More

The tour guide was extremely knowledgeable and this is what made the trip especially rewarding. Alex was truly in tune with the surroundings. The hike was a great workout.

Our guide, Bernie, was very knowledgeable and passionate about Costa Rican plants and wildlife. He has an amazing eye for spotting things, including camouflaged birds and a whale breaching way off in the distance. He also speaks good English. We did see moneys, birds, insects and other animals. But its more about the plants and environment than an animal spotting... More

Outstanding tour. Samara Adventure Company organizes transportation to the reserve, which is privately maintained, and excellent guides. Bernie, our guide, was exceptionally familiar with the trees and other vegetation, insect, birds and animals, and he had a remarkable ability to spot birds, lizards and the plentiful Howler monkeys in the canopy. Tour is about 5 miles on trails overall, with... More

An amazing look at Costa Rican fauna and flora, largely because of a wonderful guide Bernie. Bernie apparently does this walk every day, sometimes twice and yet he conveyed interest and enthusiasm the entire time. He found things we would have never spotted on our own such as an own sleeping on a perch. He explained uses and history of... More
