We hiked the trails with Samara Adventure Tours, and we saw howler monkeys, lots of varieties of birds and butterflies. Our guide was excellent, pointing out all of these and allowing us to view them through a telescope that he carried the whole trip. The tour took about 5 hours, and we hiked the upper trails as we left at... More

Luis was very friendly and informative: both the flora and fauna were fascinating. And he provided great snacks along the way!

Benny, our knowledgeable guide, gave us an amazing hike this afternoon. He spent time explaining the interesting biodiversity of the preserve, always answering our questions with detail and accuracy. We were really impressed with our afternoon and would HIGHLY recommend it to those who wish to understand the connection between the natural and human life of Samara.

Had to get up early and was a good stretch of our legs, but well worth it. Lots of nature to see and our tour guide was great. Fantastic views.

They pick you up at your hotel/accommodation and take you to the biological reserve. It was billed as a 2 1/2 hour hike but was actually more like 3 1/2. The guide identified indigenous and non-indigenous foliage and explained their impacts on the environment and how the indigenous people used them for building or pharmaceuticals. The Guide, 'Bernie' is a... More

We learned interesting information about trees and plants, but we didn't see any animals except for a a bat and a couple of butterflies, even though the guide had a spotting scope. You'd probably have more success with the morning tour, and it would be somewhat less hot. It's not one of the better options in Samara for younger children... More

The guides were very knowledgeable and did a great job of finding bats, birds, butterflies and monkeys on the trails. They had great snacks and provided water too!! I would recommend this as a fun morning activity.

It's a great opportunity to learn about flora and some fauna of the "dryforest" in the vicinity of Samara. The guide is impressively knowledgeable, the tour is very well organized and extremely interesting, even for people who might not consider themselves "nature aficionados". It can be truly recommended to everybody between 5 and 95, maybe considering the closeness to the... More
