This is a little reserve that is run and maintained by volunteers. We decided to walk the path by ourselves, which was good because our twins really wanted to look at certain animals (the biggest hit was the two dogs that live in the reserve, LOL). There are some beautiful birds, monkeys, an alligator and even an ocelot.

Spent a morning there on a recent trip to Portegolpe. Unlike many other attractions this is not a tourist rip-off, but a genuine rescue, rehabilitation and education centre where your entry donation (USD15 suggested - we went far over that) goes to fund their work. We were escorted round by the lovely Stephanie who spoke perfect English (way better than... More

We had a lovely guide show us around the park. It is run by mostly volunteers who care for these animals that are being rehabilitated. We were the only ones there when we arrived and we spent a lot of leisurely time on the tour. After the tour, we had our free smoothies at the restaurant and then went back... More

Much more than the name implies. They have rescue animals of every kind there and you are escorted around by charming guides who give you the background into every animal. There is a very nice bar|restaurant there as well.

We came here for ziplining. They also offered ATV riding. This was not a zoo (not sure if there's another Monkey Park that is a zoo - I boycott zoos). I liked that they included pick-up and drop-off from our hotel (20 minute drive). We went at the end of the dry season (May), so the trees were looking very... More

Ziplining through the trees with the monkeys cheering you on. Amazing! Don't miss the Tarzan swing. Staff was attentive to safety and everyone had fun!

My husband and I spent over an hour there yesterday and we really enjoyed ourselves. The staff is knowledgeable and kind, and they truly love being there. One went out of her way and off the regular path to show us 5 monkeys in the wild, up in a tree. She spent time explaining to us how they live and... More

My wife and I visited this park during our honeymoon. Overall, we felt the experience was ok. Based on the reviews on TripAdvisor, I guess we expected more. Of the 24 exhibits, only 3 had monkeys ("Monkey Park"), and 4 didn't have anything in them. Also, only about 4 exhibits actually had information cards. It looked as though the sanctuary... More

It was great quick trip to see local wildlife! A good time! The animals are being rehabilitated before the go back into the wild. The monkeys are super quick! And a beautiful oscolot!
