I have always heard about the whales tail so this year we experienced it first hand. From our hotel Costa Paraiso in Dominicallito we hired a driver Geovanny from Nauyacca Waterfalls ( he does not have a site so contact the falls to hire him, he is extremely knowledgeable in the area and speaks fluent English.). Geovanny took us up... More

We took snorkel equipment and a soccer ball to the famous Whale's tail at Marino Ballena. There were lots of colorful fish, but the visibility wasn't great, but definitely worthwhile. The beaches are massive, and wide. This is a very unique and beautiful park. The views of the jungle covered mountains from the beach is as spectacular as the beach... More

Low tide in late afternoon, a sunset walk across the sand bar of the Whale's tail and a tiny bit of snorkelling capped a perfect day in Uvita. Check the tide charts and visit at low tide. Spectacular

Low tide, beach is wide, great to walk on. Keep your flip flops with you because the sand does get very hot. When tide is low can walk to end of whale tail. Palm trees line the beach. Find one to relax under.

Shallow for the kids. Gentle waves. A very long beach to walk 4-5 kms. Nice place to spend the morning.

Amazing beach. Huge, unspoiled, fantastic sand and you can walk so far you almost need a taxi to get to where you started from. Add to this the famous whale tail and you have something special to see. Make sure you catch low tide though. Low priced park with access to a number of beaches. If you go by marino... More

The park costs $6 US for a day pass that can be used at all the parks on the same day. The beach is large and sandy after climbing down over smooth rocks. We saw monkies and a scarlett macaw and many other birds. The water was warm, cleand and clear with waves .

Incredibly beautiful beach with world's largest sandbar -- the Whale's Tale. Try and go at low tide for it is usually only time you can walk to the end of the tale (although very difficult rocks along both "fins"). Understand good snorkeling in the southern side cove. Great place for walk or sunning.

The whale's tail area of this beach is beautiful, it is a long "ish" walk to get out to it at low tide. Stay away from Playa Arco. There have been several robberies with physical and sexual assaults recently. No one has been caught or arrested yet.
