Pura Vida Gardens and Waterfalls is unique in Costa Rica. It is truly a "Visual Masterpiece". The gardens begin with the natural beauty of Costa Rica and four waterfalls in the property with spectacular views of the Pacific Ocean. To this millions of plants, flowers and orchids from all over the world have been added. Manicured walkways meander long a river and at the crest of the mountain which make the entire 50 acre gardens accessible to all. Have lunch in our restaurant and browse the gift shop that offers authentic Costa Rica gifts.

The gardens are manicured and wonderfully kept. We saw many birds including a pair of Macaws who were just beautiful! It was hot but they have a small gift shop that had cold drinks. The view is amazing- we loved it!

Puta vida garden is a treasure created by its owner, David & Cindy Stannard. The garden is extensive and has a wide variety of both native and imported plantings. It is best to tour with a naturalist who can narrate the tour and answer questions. There is a lot too see and a nice gift shop with souvenirs. I enjoyed... More

Lawrence, Thank you very much for your nice review of Pura Vida Gardens and Waterfalls. I am glad you enjoyed yourself. We have had a very dry season and the waterfall is not much to brag about but I'm happy you liked the gardens, which is our main thing anyway. Hope to see you again sometime. David Stannard More

Beautiful garden and definitely off the beaten path. Lots of paths can easily spend 2 hours wandering around the grounds. My family of three only ones visiting on a Sunday afternoon. $20 / person.

We hired a taxi to take us up to this wonderful garden! A wide variety of flowers and birds flying wild that will keep you entertained and exercised for a couple of hours. Our , driver was so nice and proud to show us his country. A beautiful place! The garden trails are fairly challenging. We're seniors and handled it... More

These gardens are at the tope of a long dirt road about 8 km off Hwy 34. They are beautiful and well maintained but $20 per person is high for an unguided walk around. Beer at $3.50 way over-priced

Barry, Sorry you thoght the gardens was a bit pricey. Compared to other places in our area we are pretty much in line prIce wise. I don't drink but i did check a couple other non- grocery stores and they charge $3.00 for beer. I will lower the price at your suggestion, thanks. A lot of people like the self... More

We were a little mixed when we read the reviews and are so glad we didn't listen to the naysayers. We spent a couple of hours at the gardens where David was funny and welcoming. This time of year the waterfall isn't as full and spectacular as I'm sure it is during the green season, but it's still a sight... More

Quite enjoyed the gardens and natural setting. Yep road is a bit rough getting there but no different then most attractions in Costa Rica. The macaw birds were amazing. Worth the price of admission! Flowers and trees well developed in a natural setting. Make sure you see all the property...perhaps look at map first. I love the original part. Waterfall... More

There are so few tours that you can safely do on your own here but this is one of them. The gardens are very pretty and the view of the falls while quite distant is impressive. Just a word of warning though. Just a short way down the road is a path to the foot of the falls. It is... More

Elliott, Thank you for your nive review of Pura Vida Gardens and Waterfalls. You are absolutly correct, trying to hike to the bottom is very difficult and only for the most experienced hikers. The guy down the road will let anyone take the hike as long as he gets his $20, regardless of your shape or age. One young man... More
