There were 5 of us taking lessons the first day, and we all had such a great time! All the instructors were brilliant, showing us thoroughly the techniques before we went anywhere near the water, and then finding the best places for us to surf as we were all beginners. The lesson lasted around 3 hours. The next day we... More

We booked this through a special where we got the lesson for $50/person but it's usually only about $60, which is a good price already. The owner himself meets you out there and helps with the lessons before you get in the water. They knew exactly where to take us for the cleanest, least rough waves on the beach. My... More

Gustavo and the other teachers are awesome and very patient. Their English is also very good. Cold drinks at the break and you WILL be surfing within 2 hours. PS: Gustavo makes the best pizza in Jaco.

My family and I spent last week in Jaco. My kids (9 and 12), my mother in law and I, took surf lessons. We loved it so much, that we went 3 times. Technique is great, staff is competent and everybody was fun to be with. Special thank to you Gustavo! High five to our coaches Andres and Cesar. Free... More

These guys are great. If they can take someone who has never surfed before and get them to ride a wave, that's pretty good in my book. Very friendly instructors. They also let you use a board for 24 hours after your lesson to keep practicing.

The staff at Jaco Surf School was super friendly and welcoming to a beginning surfer. Located right on the beach, as soon as I walked up, looking a bit timid, one of the employees immediately started to chat me up, but was not pushy at all. He told me about their services and prices, and answered my questions without being... More

The first time we walked up to Jaco beach we were greeted by Jaco Surf School workers who were very polite, not pushy, and very intriguing. The invited my husband and I to their busy tent and explained their service: $50 per person for a beginners lesson which consists of about 15-20 minutes on land and about an hour in... More

We (one kid of mine and two borrowed) took lessons from Gus and his boys a few weeks ago. We were all first-time surfers (ages 18, 20, 21 and 53), and by the end of the lesson we were all able to stand and ride. Gus knows his stuff (an experienced surfer and teacher), and his staff is capable and... More
