Made a quick trip to this spot with our two teenagers during our stay at Jaco. Tour guide Frasier (and part-owner) showed his love for nature and his entrepreneurial spirit in a dedicated hour visit. My boys had a million questions - he engaged them with knowledge and humour. I applaud locals who start their own businesses that prove to... More

What an amazing place to visit. They are releasing frogs and butterflies into the wild for conservation purposes. It is mot an animal rescue centre although they have some Macaws that were pets. Unfortunately due to the humans that had them as pets they cannot be released. Really enjoyed the tour beautiful butterflies Blue Morphos Owl and so many other... More

This was a less than 10-minute drive from our lodging in Jaco. We were practically the only people there. The establishment is small and off the beaten path. We were immediately greeted in the parking area by David, and he explained that he could provide an approximately one-hour long guided, educational tour of the facility for a fairly reasonable price.... After visiting Las pumas, this was the 2nd anumal refuge we visited. Like said with the Las Pumas that there is a line between refuge and zoo, the same is here. There were Macaws that can not go back into the wild. But it puzzles me about frogs and snakes for their reason to be in a refuge instead of... More

We stumbled upon Neo Fauna walking the river from Hotel Pumilio. What an amazing find - frogs, butterflies, birds, snakes, turtles... this place had it all, and for only $20 per person. Highly recommended.

Really off the beaten track - even our taxi driver had never been there. The facility is a bit run down but the tour guide was knowledgeable and informative and the modest collection of local flora and fauna was fascinating. It is not a capital-intensive place like other butterfly farms we've visited (e.g. in Aruba); but - it was charming... More

We visited this place today and I can't understand how people can write good reviews for this place. It is very amateurish with several cages put together and some frogs and snakes thrown. I personally doubt their claim that they rescue animals or release them back to the wild. They will open the cages for you to take pictures and... More

We were referred to Randall of Neofauna Eco Tours by the property manager at the condo complex we were staying at. This was one of the best recommendations we could have ever received. Randall was awesome!!! We set up a horseback riding trip to the waterfalls near Jaco with Randall who also acted as our guide. We rode the horses... More
