This place is paradise. The vanilla and cacao plants are so cool to see. The tour guide was dry and lame, and the food tastings were thrown together and not tasty. But we had a great time!

Guide was very knowledgeable, lots of interesting information about spices. (It helped to save $10 per person by scheduling the tour and transportation directly with Villa Vanilla. Learn about vanilla, cinnamon, tumeric, pepper and other spices. Very interesting to seeing the different plants and savoring...More

Great visit with an old hippy who has turned this into a high-end eco spice farm. Found myself saying more than once that, " I didn't know that!" Great walk through the farm that organically grows vanilla, Ceylon cinammon, peppercorns, and cacao pods from which...More

People there were rude and no help. Waited around wanting to buy some vanilla but finally just left.

We had done an (excellent) chocolate-coffee-sugar tour near Monteverde (see separate review) and were hesitant about paying another notable admission fee for what might be a big repeat. But we read the other glowing and informative reviews on this site, we thought about it for...More

This was an expensive tour, $50 booked thru the hotel, $45 if booked by self. They come and pick you up from the hotel, and drive about 35 min. outside of Quepos. The tour itself is short, shows you the basics about harvesting vanilla and...More

I have purchased there many times without the tour, however only one or two staff members speak English so definitely call ahead. I always purchase in bulk (around 10 kilos total) and they will have your order ready for you... More
