Just 2 days beofre we arrived at La Sirena they had opened the new shower and toilet blocks. This renovation has been going on for a long time and the station now looks much better with facilities which are now 100 times better than before. I was prepared to rough it out and so it was a very nice surprise.... More

I am rating this 5 star on the look of the new amenities block! We still had to use the old facilities which were basic but useable! The new toilets and showers look lovely, and are connected to the sleeping platforms so no venturing into the night alone to nip to the loo! The sleeping platform is pretty cool, being... More

My husband and I stayed two nights at the Sirena Ranger Station to maximize our time to see wildlife in Corcovado National Park. Our guide was Felix with Osa Travel, who I would highly recommend. Very knowledgeable, personable, and is happy to tweak the general itinerary to meet your desires. We saw lots of wildlife, including four kinds of monkeys,... More

If you want to stay the night in the jungle, this is the place. Very primitive but so cool. The boat ride was heavy and rough but worth it.. Only problem: can be crowded (max 70 people) and sleeping is not easy when having a bad "matrass" and 2-3 people snorring...

The tour trip to Sirena is a complete fraud. Turists are taken to a short walk where some bored animals can be spotted in their predictable sites. The guides show you the tapir site, the sloth tree or the ants path... Then you stop for a peanut butter sandwich and some fruit. You could see the same animals for free... More

We went on a 2 day trip with Everest (Martina's place for sure can help you arrange this). He is great! He is indiginous to this area and knows it like no other. While on our trip, we have seen other guides at work and many of them were not from the region or were doing a standard route/story. Everest... More

We stayed here overnight on a 2 day trip with Surcos tours. I have stayed at other similar places in Costa Rica so I thought I knew what to expect. When we were there I think the station was at its new reduced capacity of about 30 people. One of the toilets was out of action in the evening as... More

ok, so I was not expecting much, thus was not disappointed by the conditions. You basically sleep on a tiny matrace on the floor (kind of outside, you have a roof but no walls) with a mosquito cover on top. As a girl I got a tent :P .. this is arranged by the guide (Tamandua Eco Tour), or you... More

We didn't stay here, but visited for a long hike with a naturalist from Copa de Arbol resort in nearby Drake Bay. Wonderful hike on which we spotted many different species.

Your expectations for staying at the ranger station will determine how you experience it. And since I find it weird to review a ranger station, here is some general information about the station. I was there for two nights in a three-day hiking tour of Corcovado through Surcos Tours. The station is 16km from the Leona station in a large... More
