We very much enjoyed our tour of Rancho Raices! I went on the tour with my three children, aged 12, 10 and 4, and all really enjoyed themselves. We liked learning about the different plants and trees in the Osa, visiting the tilapia and koi pond, and of course, learning about and making chocolate! As with many things in Costa... More

This was the best experience and a must see. Marcos was a great tour guide. We learned about local plant history and medicinal uses. Ripe fruit grew everywhere along with the coco trees. They cut up what was there and we ate it right there during the tour! If you are lucky, there will be a wild white pineapple ready... More

The Ranch is a fantastic place, and the family and staff that runs it are very welcoming. Marcos, the tour guide, is extremely knowledgeable, and makes you feel right at home. And of course, the chocolate is amazing as well!

Wonderful tour of native trees and plants. Delicious chocolate and samples of fruits and local chips. Family run farm- great hard working people. We really enjoyed it. Don't miss this experience.

You REALLY don't want to miss this tour! We had a little trouble booking it because the phone # in Tripadvisor was wrong. If your hotel or airbnb doesn't reserve this for you, the owner's daughter, Vanessa wants people to call her at +506 8441-6612 (English) or +506 8603-0464 (Spanish) to reserve. We are SO glad that we did figure... More

Wonderful tour of a family run cocoa/fruit farm. You really get a great feeling for the character and heart of the Costa Rican people. Our tour guide, who's name I believe was Vanessa and her father took us on an amazing journey through their property. We learned about indigenous plants, trees and herbs and also some that we should stay... More

This was one of the highlights of our Costa Rica experience. The education about sustainable farming practices and the diverse range of plants was top notch. Amazing friendly family. Go support them!!!

There was so much to see and do (and taste) on this marvelous tour. Marcos (who spoke English) was an amazing tour guide--knowledgeable and passionate about the plants and animals of the area. He quickly figured out our interests in the plants and took us to some additional places after the tour to show us new flora. The tour was... More

The Raices family was very fun and friendly and it was really cool to see how they farm and make chocolate and a variety of other crops. This is definitely worth a stop though! We even saw squirrel monkeys playing in the trees 10 feet away.

The tour begins at the family home. The home is surrounded by lush vegetation native to the area. The tour was led by the owner, German, with Vanessa assisting as translator. He shared his extensive knowledge of and love for the different plants and trees on their vast farm. We were able to sit down to a savory lunch that... More
