Beautiful, family run business. Medicinal plants, pure chocolate, the biggest tree I have EVER seen, delicious lunch, wonderful family. Couldn't ask for a better place to visit! Highly recommended!

This was just a fabulous experience! We learned so much about cacao and other plants. The insights into local culture and traditions were so interesting! The entire family was delightful. A not-to-be missed experience if you’re in the area. Our only regret was that we didn’t sign up for lunch—but the fruit and chocolate that we helped make were absolutely delicious!

This was an incredible tour. We walked the property and tasted herbs and learned about the medicinal plants. We have really come to appreciate the process from Cocoa seed to chocolate - it is amazing. The lunch was spectacular at the end of the tour and we did buy chocolate to take home. Our 12 year old really enjoyed it too. Their approach to the land and the environment is inspiring. Be aware that it is cash only so be prepared. We would highly recommend this tour for anyone visiting this area. We can't wait to go back!

This turned out to be the best highlight of our trip to Costa Rica. Family owned and operated in artisanal chocolate making process. Super friendly and informative. They showed us and let us taste countless other herbs, fruits and plants that they grow on the farm. It was fun to participate in the steps to make chocolate and even more fun to taste it ! We bought lots of gifts of chocolate to take home to family and friends. Even got to see a family of squirrel monkeys playing all around us and even a sloth.

Absolutely fantastic experience! This is so much more than a cacao tour. The farm is managed in an organic permaculture manner, so you also get to learn about many of the native plants grown alongside the cacao. At the end of the tour, you get to help grind the cacao beans and sample fresh chocolate, as well as fresh fruit served with cacao nibs and chocolate fondue. The family who owns the rancho was friendly and welcoming, and our tour guide, Anita, was amazing. Highly recommend!

My brothers and I were treated like family from the start. We were introduced to the whole family by our host, Anita, who also allowed us to eat our lunch at their home dining table. We were educated on the many types of fruit and vegetable plants on the property along with the history behind them. We also partook in the artisanal chocolate-making process which was a unique experience! We bought 100% pure chocolate at the end for a very reasonable price. We plan to make custom chocolates with it!

We booked this tour on a last minute whim, one day before we were leaving Costa Rica and we are SO GLAD we did. I'm always leery of farm tours because often times, they are done in large groups and seem so touristy. However, this place was the complete opposite-it was such a great experience. From the moment we started, we found the tour fascinating and very educational. Herman and his family were so welcoming and kind, and Anita, our tour guide, did an excellent job of educating us. We learned about so many different plants and tree in addition to the process of chocolate making. Three hours went by so quickly! We got to see the entire process of chocolate making, from cracking open a cacao pod to the final product of chocolate. We tasted raw cacao beans (like lychee with a hint of citrus), cacao nibs (which we made ourselves!), and of course, the final product...chocolate. YUM! It was very hands on-we got to see, taste, smell, feel the process. We got to take home cacao nibs and some freshly ground cocoa beans for facials. We also got to sample some fresh fruit and chocolate, and we ended up buying chocolate to take with us. Also-you can participate in a meal for an additional charge-so make sure you let them know if you are interested in that option as we didn't know until after we arrived. This was a highlight of our visit to the Osa Peninsula--highly recommend!

Hi there,
Our family plans to visit this attraction at the beginning of June. I am having a hard time finding contact info so we can book ahead. Can anyone help by providing a contact email/website or booking info?
Thanks so much.

Hi, About how long does this tour take? And at what time do you like to start the tour?
Thank you!

The length would depend, with our tour we ate lunch with the family. I got the impression that not everyone was offered that and it was a special arrangement with our resort and the farm. The length of our tour was about three hours. I would do things earlier in the day. It gets hot and sometimes rainy in the afternoon.

to be out of touch, I have been traveling! I don't believe yu must make reservations BUT if you want a translator and have the family plan to have you stay for lunch and 'TRY" making cholocate with them, I would STRONGLY RECOMMEND. Get contact from Maria Murillo of Costa Rica Authentic who made ALL of my arrangements she loves the country, is bi-lingual and very reasonable.

Hi, do we need to make reservations, or are there specific times for tours? Is there an email address we can contact them? There doesn't seem to be much information available.
