Lunch time visit.

Plan your visit as the statues face west and between two tall buildings. So they are in direct sunlight for just a few hours after midday.

The building and statues are interesting, but I would not go out of my way to visit. So if your passing fine if not don't bother.

One of the many parks, monuments and sculptures in and around downtown. We saw several during a short walk from our hotel.

This stop won't take you long and it really has nothing to do with the Central Bank building. That said, the collection of statues of what appears to be ordinary folk is charming and arresting. During the several times that I was nearby, I always noticed people photographing the installation or being photographed as an additional person in the assembly.... More

Sculptures in front of the Bank testimony to the fact bankers not only care about money? Ten ordinary people made of bronze looking straight forward without showing a lot of emotion. Very unlike Costa Ricans, though their racial features clearly show Central American roots. The longer you look at them the more fascinating they appear. Only two were shoes, the... More

The bank itself is not so much interesting for tourists beside exchange currency. The most interesting thing is the group of sculptures in front of the bank. These sculptures were made by Costa Rican artist Fernando Calvo in 1982. The sculptures don`t carry any deep allegorical meaning as you would think. The name of sculpture`s group is "Presentes" in Spanish-... More

If you are in the area, better to be afoot, because you won't find parking available - except for the interminable traffic jamb you will find yourself in. Otherwise, the Central Bank building is a solid and imposing edifice, as one would expect, most pleasing architecturally. The outdoor bronzes are charming and well worth examining in detail as a historical... More

Sad statues that represent the hard work of the locals. They are lifelike and have great details. Did not enter bank but had to look at these sad sculptures.
