My property is in Cooper Landing nestled in the Kenai Mountains and next to the beautiful Kenai Lake. We are approx 2/1/4 mile from where the Kenai Lake dumps into the start of Kenai River. We teach prospecting and gold panning skills and you learn how to find gold starting with a shovel and raw river gravel. We also have gem and fossil panning, my own brand of wild meat jerky, mining and prospecting supplies and a small gift shop with Alaskan made gifts. We also have a full day prospecting and back country excursion into the wilderness where you can see the Alaskan wilderness up close and prospect for gold in a wild stream if you so desire...

We came here with our 7 and 8 year olds. The gold panning kept them both very interested and they had a blast anticipating their big haul! The folks here are patient and friendly and treated them to some science lessons as well. There's also a nice cafe next door if you need to get a bite before or after.... More

When we booked this trip we weren't really sure what to expect. This excursion actually turned out to be one of the highlights of or trip. Prospector John took us deep into the woods as we made our way to a very secluded spot where we were the only ones gold panning. Along the way, Prospector John would stop to... More

Planned our trip to Alaska for 2 years. Read about the all day back country experience and had loved seeing more of Alaska country. Being afraid of bears was my only concern. Having a little more knowledge of them from this trip has eased that fear. Country side beautiful. Tasted some of what pioneers ate and was surprised how tasty.... More

There really is a prospector John, and he'll show you and teach you how to find gold flakes using a sluice and a gold pan. He's the expert. Don't expect to get rich, but whether you are young or old you'll have a good time.

What a fantastic excursion this was. Our family had a great time on the hike with prospector John, he had some great stories to share and is a wealth of knowledge. He ensured that everyone had a great time. We may not have struck it rich with gold, but we created some memories to last a lifetime.

We had a lot of fun panning today. Our two teen boys got into it and liked using the sluice. While we didn't get rich, it was a fun hour and a half. It looks like it be might be a typical tourist trap since it's around a lot of other little shops, but it's well worth your time and... More

This was an awesome excursion. I loved the hike with prospector John. He was a wealth of information about the Alaskan wilderness. This trip gives you a true feel of Alaska. You hike with provided waders and a stick walking through creeks and animal trails, then stop to pan for Gold and a brown bag lunch. We saw many bald... More

We were exploring Alaska with our 3 kids (ages 16, 14 and 11) when we heard about this fun little place! We got each of the kids a bucket to look for gold and sure enough, they found gold! It was so fun to watch them get excited! The staff was super friendly and there is a yummy Dude's Food... More

We did the raft trip that includes gold panning in 2014 and had a fun time in the creek with a sluice box. You get to do two things in one trip and can come back later to do buckets of paydirt anytime if you have a tighter schedule.
