Black Rock beach is historically and culturally important to the people of Rarotonga. Facing north-west, and receiving all day sun, the lagoon area is a popular aqua-playground. The prominent black rocks serve as diving platforms into the rock pools below. Black Rock is also the home of Rarotonga's only golf course, as well as the tennis centre and beach volleyball courts.

Once we discovered the beaches were mostly shallow, we hunted for a good swimming hole. Seeing the kids jumping off the rock meant it had to have some depth, so we scrambled down the rocks and enjoyed the water. This became a favourite place.

I loved that the day we spotted this spot there were only 3 local boys swimming there. We went down and spent all day there lazing on the rocks and jumping in when it got too hot. Can get crowded but it's nice and safe...More
