An interesting 1 to 2 hour break in the drive up the Richardson Hwy into Fairbanks. Pamphlets available near the car park explain the buildings and surroundings of this once important roadhouse, run for many years by a Swedish immigrant woman named Rika. The grounds, old roadhouse and barn have been restored providing a real insight into life early/mid last... More

Rika's Roadhouse & Landing is an excellent feature of Big Delta State Park. It provides a very real look into the past! The site was frequented by travelers, miners, hunters, traders, and the military in the early 1900s. Rika's Roadhouse was managed by a Swedish immigrant (Rika Wallen) beginning in 1917 and it has been very well-maintained to this day.... More

I enjoyed the space of the park and the historical building that were exhibited there. Especially liked the wooden houses and the different styles of construction. Rita's Roadside Cafe found in the park providing soup, pulled pork, dogs and homemade pie. Good place to eat.

My wife and I stopped here during our five week canoe trip down the Tanana River. The Park is right along the river. The historical Road House and buildings are well worth a visit to learn the history of the area. The food at the café was a big disappointment, serving only premade sandwiches, soup and some bakery items. They... More

I loved this place. The food in the cafe/shop was good but choice was a bit limited. The buildings were furnished as they would have been in the time of the pioneers and gold prospectors establishing a route to Fairbanks. Brought the history to life. Not very many other visitors which was good for me, but a shame for the... More

Interesting history lesson here, or just take take a few minutes to walk the grounds. The lady that ran the road house was a very interesting person. Talk with the college kids that are interning there for the summer. It is there job to make your visit pleasant, and they were knowledgeable. it was a good break in our travels.... More

This was a nice stop on a long day of road travel for a quick bite and stretch . The food was not great but clean and a cute gift shop with different items.

Nice historical stop - self guided walk through the grounds and buildings of an old road house. Interesting way to stretch your legs!

If you are driving through Alaska make sure to drive through the town of Delta Junction. Rika's Roadhouse inside the park has a great free walk through on your own tour of the roadhouse and outbuildings. Make sure you stop in the gift store! Staff are very friendly and helpful. We ate lunch in the cafe and the homemade soups... More
