Crow Creek Mine is a family owned and operated Historical and Recreational Gold Mine. Nestled in a very beautiful mountain setting, Crow Creek Mine offers the oldest buildings in the Anchorage area, 1898, as well as some of the most popular recreational Gold Mining in all of Alaska. You will find everyone from your first time miner just hoping for a few flecks, up to actual gold miners who have been working these grounds on a very serious level. For those not intersted in the panning or sluicing experience, the property is very scenic for pictures and is a very popular wedding destination, it is even fun to just sit and watch some of the more experienced crews of miners as they work. While most visitors coming in for sightseeing or panning don't need reservations, we do offer private guided tours for those of you wanting a bit more out of your experience. Not only do you learn more about the property and gold in general, but the gold mining experience of our staff and knowledge of the property is always a big help in having a succesful outing!!! Feel free to contact us for any questions regarding our business or the Girdwood area in general. Girdwood makes for great day trips from anchorage and is on the way for anyone headed to Portage, Seward, Kenai, or Homer. Our road is a bit bumpy and unmaintained between October and May, but come June 1st every year the state does a great job of fixing it, you can always contact us for road conditions if concerned. Thanks for viewing our business, we look forward to meeting you soon,

This was a really fun day. My friend had done this before (not at this place) and did not want to go. Said it was really "touristy" - just a bunch of travelers at a trough with pans. She was shocked at how authentic this place was. Charlie was AWESOME. He gave us a tour around the mine which had... More

We went on opening day with my 2 young children. They had a great time. They were disappointed not to have found gold but at least they brought some home from the practice dirt that they give you. The setting is beautiful! We enjoyed seeing the old homes and seeing how the miners used to live. We were among the... More

I thought this was a neat little place to step back into history. The little homes are neat to see how the miners lived. The kids had fun looking for gold, it's also a pretty site. Sitting along the bank, was really nice while the kids filtered for gold. They also give them little gold flakes to keep.

One must drive a few miles past the Double Musky Restuarant to get to Crow Creek. Once there, you will find a lot of exploring to do. A great connection with Alaska gold history and even a chance to try your own luck panning. If it is five oclock as you pass the Double Musky.....stop for a great dinner.

Crow Creek Mine has a beautiful outdoor setting for a summer wedding and a great reception venue out of the rain. Our daughters wedding was enchanting set among the rustic old mining equipment and props.

Our friends told us about this place when they visited Alaska so it was a must see on our weekend get-a-ways. The self guided walking tour was perfect as we had time to enjoy the woods and take pictures of all the interesting things we stumbled upon such as the stone heart shapes along the pathway, the outdoor Chapel and... Take a chance at panning for gold! They've restored many of the original buildings that house artifacts from the minors and region. You can walk around the area and get a sense for what these men did for a living. You get an introduction with a few flakes of gold to practice with and then hike to a river not... More

Love being able to go out into the creeks and look for gold. Part of your admission in is them giving you a pan and some materials to go out to the creek and search for gold. They do give you a little bottle of a gold spec for you to also take home with you. Definitely a place to... More

Crow Creek Mine is located within the town of Girdwood. To reach this mine you should go a long unpaved road 3 miles deep in the woods. Here if you want to just hang out and to be impressed from the place the payment for it will be $ 10. There is some authentic vehicles from the beginning of the... More
