This is a MUST do when in the area. I'd go back and see it again! It's incredible how close you can get to these animals. The tour is very interactive and up close and personal! We got to feed a porcupine, pet a baby moose, feed reindeer, and feed a moose a carrot from our mouths. The tour guides... More

My wife and I were recently up in Haines to photograph eagles this past Thanksgiving (2016).We wanted to round out our trip with some other wild life and heard about the wild life center and made reservations through our guide. Steve put together a 3+ hour photo shoot with animals we were interested in, placed in natural settings. He and... More

You probably will never again see a "playful" wolverine. There are also raptors, a bear, moose, etc. all close and easy to see. The staff is very committed to the animals and if there isn't a tour going, it's worth calling and setting one up. Not too far out of town and guaranteed to provide an unusual encounter with Alaska... More

This is a 'DON'T MISS!!!!" attraction. Steve and the staff have set up this sanctuary for Alaskan wildlife and it is simply amazing - a wolverine on a leash, bear, moose, wolf, a lynx, porcupine, and so much more. These people develop unique relationships with these animals and provide superior insights that will leave you informed and motivated. They will... More

This was the only tour we took on our recent Princess Cruise and it was worth the fee. The ferry fide from Skagway to Haines way great and informative. Steve Krochel and Mario Benassi are both very knowledgable if unorthodox for guides. They have much wisdom to impart. These are all orphaned or rescued animals and many are predators that... More

We were very hesitant to visit the Wildlife Center. We have stopped going to zoos for years now as we do not feel that they are a good place for wild animals. It was with much investigation and some doubt that we decided to go anyhow. We were happy we did. The animals here all came from ways other than... More

We went to Haines mainly for the Bald Eagles and scenery but were so glad we were told about Kroschel's and managed to get on an end of season private tour. The center has a wide range of adopted animals. They make a show of bringing them out and interacting. There was a wolverine, foxes, mink, a lynx, a wolf,... More
