I wanted to pan for gold in Alaska so we did the Gold Rush Tour to Porcupine Creek with our guide Holly Jo. We took the 45 minute trip on the Fast Ferry from the port in Skagway to Haines. This was a fascinating insight into the unglamorous life of a prospector. Digging the sand and gravel from the creek, washing and panning and picking out stones to get acouple of specks of gold dust, if you are lucky, then doing it all over and over and over again. We returned from a wonderful trip to Alaska. Our tour in Skagway was the best. We took the ferry over to Haines where we went on the Gold Rush Tour to Porcupine.
