Just the name of this place was intriguing. The trolley ride through town and out to the spit is worth the cost of the ticket. You learn a lot about the town and what a spit it. Basically, it dirt and rock spit out from a glacier as it passes through an area. It must have been a monster glacier.... More

Very cool place, beautiful scenery, lots of ocean wildlife Lots of restaurants and shops in summer months Couple decent fishing holes there and it's fun to walk the docks and maybe see the Timebandit Crazy crowds in summertime

Cute little shops on the Kachemack Bay. Lots of unique items and fishing gear. Historic Salty Dog Saloon is fun, but they serve no food but heated up hot dogs and popcorn, Great for meeting local fishers.

You can't come to Homer without visiting the Spit. This is where you will find the marina, the restaurants, the beach, and all sorts of attractions too. There is a great walking trail around the marina where you can enjoy watching the fishermen come and go, see fishing boat repairs being made, and just enjoy some of the prettiest scenery... More

There is a reason they call Homer the Halibut Capital of the World. Came home with 40 pounds of freshly caught halibut from a full day charter. Delicious!

Great place to buy souvenirs and to find good food . Take time to walk around the harbor, talk to local fishermen, learn about the area from people who live here.

My October visit to the Homer Spit was low-keyed because all the tourist shops were closed for the winter. I still enjoy walking the Spit and having lunch at Land's End. It takes on a whole different atmosphere in the off-season. Love the Homer Spit.

Just after tourist season is over is a perfect time to visit! Just don't wait too long, because things slow down fast. Take a water taxi to climb a mountain and see a glacier lake, have a drink at the Salty Dawg, and dinner at Lands End!
