Eaglecrest Ski Area on Douglas Island just 12 miles from downtown is Juneau, Alaska's community owned ski area. The area offers four chairlifts, and over 640 acres of skiable terrain. Eaglecrest is gives you a big mountain experience with a small mountain feel. Facilities also include a professionally staffed Snow Sports School, Rental and Repair Shop, groomed Nordic Trails, and the Eaglecrest Grill. Eaglecrest is Juneau's Winter Playground. Winter is our favorite time at Eaglecrest but we do admit summer is a beautiful time on the mountain. No chairlifts operate but hikers and bikers can explore the mountain on the summer trail which meanders up the mountain and offers great scenic views.

It is amazing

It is small enough that there is something for everyone, and It is almost impossible to get lost. The back country skiing is exceptional.

Scenic drive up with good hiking opportunities and wildlife spotting. Many recreational things to do near here.

Eaglecrest offers plenty of beginner, intermediate, and expert level skiing for a small ski area. I have skied many resorts in Canada and the Lower 48, and Eaglecrest delivers plenty of skiing for a lot less money.

I stopped by when I was in the area for work and had some time to kill. There are hiking trails all around the ski area. You can park in the lot or any of the pull offs. I saw lots of porcupines along the way. Overall a very pleasant experience. The ski area looks small and simple. But that's... More

Closed two days each week during the short ski season. The runs are short, the snow is mostly ice snow (hard surface). I've skied a lot of different places around the world and this is small, over priced and great for little kids. It's ok for the home town folk, they don't know any difference. Half the time, some of the... More

Thank you for taking the time to review Eaglecrest. This past season we experienced some challenging conditions due to unusually low snowfall. While we were able to open the mountain a week early - the end November, lack of snow in February did force us to make the decision to close the mountain for the season in mid-March. This low... Eaglecrest is a nice local ski area, but the weather can be marginal. It can be sunny, cloudy, snowing or rainy on any given day. If you are a fair weather skier pick you day. If your a hardcore skier or snowboarder go when it's open.

Winter 2014-15 wasn't kind to us, that's for sure. Keep in mind though, we are only a few years removed from having the deepest snowpack in the Western Hemisphere! No lift lines and powder lasts for weeks at a time! More

This place should be ranked #2 (just after the Glacier) because the experience was phenomenal! First, it was only $55 to ski all day, rent ski gear, and take a 2 hour training lesson with instructors. The instructors and staff were incredibly helpful and friendly. The slopes were awesome! The views from the ridge were absolutely breathtaking and worth climbing... More

My husband and I had a destination wedding (just the two of us). We signed up for snowboarding lessons at Eaglecrest and we had the time of our lives! It was so much fun! All the staff was very nice and our snowboarding instructor was so wonderful and patient with us! (I think her name is Diane?) Eaglecrest made us... More

We spent a day in Jan 2016, and took private teachers for Snowboarding. It was amazing - the area is great for beginners but also for advanced, the lessons as well as rental and lift pass is compared to many other areas in the world very affordable and the equipment is new and in good shape. Our teachers were more... More
