Great Grayling fishing-huge size. Mountain bike trail is a 6-mile climb, 6-mile downhill. Good trail for kids doing their first mountain trail. Stop when tired, take a break and all downhill from there.

e.e. cummings would have described the weather as just spring and puddle luscious. It was also cold but the trail was lovely and not hard. While we saw evidence of black bears we did not encounter one.

This is one of my favorite central Kenai Peninsula rides. I'm a solid intermediate rider and this trail is just challenging enough. It's a very satisfying 6 miles gradually up to the lake and then a fun and at times flowy ride back down to the trailhead. On other trips I've biked this with a competent 11 year old mountain biker, and he had fun, in particular because it finishes with a solid downhill (always a great idea to pick trails that finish downhill with kids). Since it is only 6 miles to the lake I know many also enjoy this as a day hike. Fall colors were nice. Some bear scat around.

We drove from hurricane ridge to crescent lake for the hike through old growth Forrest and to the water fall. The track is easy about a three mile round trip, it gets steep as you approach the falls, but worth the effort. The trees both Douglas firs and western red cedars are spectacular very big and grand, a must see. The lake is one of the very best clean, inviting and calm the day we were there. Put this on your must do list... Alan and Penny

Well this trail can be deceiving and be prepared for some great views. We took the long route and it was wonderful. We started out to find and catch some grayling and it turned out to be a good trip. The trip up was long because we didn't prepare enough for the length of the trip. Wrong shoes didn't help. the trail was easy and easy to traverse. Around every corner I want to see, in the distance, a bear or moose. Although this desire wasn't met the grayling made up for it. Great trail for bike too as we saw at least a half dozen of them going up and down. Next time we will have to rent one of the cabins and stay a few days. The benefit of the boat would be nice for fishing.
