We enjoyed the thrill of speeding over the shallow delta of the Stikine River, to the deeper water to view the Glacier. The Captains skill in dodging around moving mud banks was amazing. The boat came as close as permitted to the glacier, the vivid blue color of the ice was unforgettable We were a bit disappointed when the address... More

We drove to this National Park to see some black bears. Although we did not see too much wild life, the place is wonderful and quiete. A must do if you have wheels in Petersburg.

What a beautiful adventure to the Le Conte Glacier. Saw lots of wildlife as well as a lot of icebergs and waterfalls. The amount of ice floating free kept us from making it to the glacier face, but it was a fantastic trip and I have great pictures.

Varied viewing experience. We traveled by boat and saw the steep mountains thick with trees, evidence of rock slides. Not good for hiking except in limited valley areas. Camping usually on shores that highlight kayak or boat experience. Much wildlife: whales, harbor seals, eagles, variety of birds.

As part of a small ship cruise this year we took a day trip to the Leconte Glacier. I've seen a lot of glaciers in Alaska so I was a bit skeptical that this would be different. It was. The glacier is beautiful and heading in we saw a lot of interesting "bergie bits" - pieces of the glacier that... More

Hiked all the way to ideal cove. I did the crane and hill lake trails. Beautiful scenery. Great hike. Hill lake has boat you can take out on lake for free. Each lake has picnic landing. Nicely boardwalked trails.

Our guide, Brenda from Alaska Charters, took our jetboat as close as possible to the glacier which involved several miles of maneuvering around so much ice it sounded like we were in a glass full of ice cubes. The beauty of the ice was magical and well worth the trip. Went to the area for bear viewing and loved this... More

The LeConte glacier is very active and it showed its calving abilities while we visited. We took a jetboat to the glacier and got very, very close inspite of the possibility of "shooters", that is submarine icebergs that quickly rise from the depths. We could clearly hear the "thunder" of LeConte as the glacier slips toward its terminus. We were... More

We were so very lucky to witness well over 25 incidences of calving from the LeConte Glacier on August 10, 2012. Our Breakaway Adventure jetboat driver, Robert Truex, said it was the most he had ever seen. In the pin-drop silence, you would start to hear a distant rumble, then "wham" - huge thunder then ancient ice would spiral to... More
