It has been raining since early morning. Couldn't see much from the cable car ride but the feeling was great as the haunting, silent heavy fog & rains at times totally engulfed the cable car as it glides slowly but steeply upwards. A serene mysterious silence in a capsule where we could see nothing outside except fog.
At mountain top, it was drizzling heavy at times ( on/off) & very chilly, very foggy. Wonderful experience being overwhelmed by the strong winds, heavy fogs & heavy drizzle all together. Unfortunately in these conditions, could not enjoy the full clear views.

Located at Sapa
- Tickets can be bought online, onsite or thru the hotel (to avoid the long queue) @ 850,000VND for 2ways
- Train station is located inside Sun Plaza
- Take a train🚂 up & switch to cable car🚠 up to Mt. Fansipan
- Cable car can take quite a number of people so it can be quite stuffy if they did no open then top windows.
- Get ready to put on your jackets🧥as you approach the station to exit.
- Went 6/9 the temperature was ard 13degree + strong wind💨
- It was cloudy @ 1st but later on, the sky cleared up & the view is so beautiful.
- There’s 2 options when you are at Fansipan.
* To take another train up to the summit which will still require you to climb some stairs
* To climb the 600 stairs to reach the summit
- Once you are at the summit, there are many people trying to take photo with the flag & monument. You need to be fast … plan, position & snap.
- There are small stalls along the way that sells drinks, ice cream & food.
- There’s 2 cafes, one at the arriving station & the other one is @ the mountain top station.

Overall: It was a good climb given the cold weather. If a 85 years old & a 90plus year old can do. So can we!

Bought the train tickets to the peak since it was a rainy day. Lamented our rain gear sitting in the hotel, as the walk from cable car to train was open air and up several flights of steep slippery stairs. Bragging rights to say we've been to the peak, though we saw nothing but rain and fog.

We travelled to Sapa with every intention of climbing to ‘The roof of Indochina’ and climb we did.
It was awesome fun thanks to the beautiful views, a few wild animals and the odd ladder to negotiate, all soaked in the predictable tropical rainforest moisture.
We made it, loved it and truly deserved the waves and applause from those who saw us arrive at the top, knowing they had taken the easy route of 15 minutes in a cable car, not 8 hours through tropical rainforest.

Exciting ride on the funicular railway and cable car. We didn’t go right to the end as the view was obscured by clouds but view from the cable car was already very spectacular.

It's cold and windy there but very nice view. Tickets 🎟 for cable car is absolutely worthy to pay for. It is extremely crowded in morning weekend , so better to go in the afternoon.

I went solo. Big mistake. There are no one to take your photos as the locals and tourists are all a bit un cooperative. Go with someone else. Views are ok after hard trek.

Despite clouds/fog seen at the top of the mountains from Sapa, our hotel guest relations manager recommended we still get the cable car as it was good weather at the top. We got to the top and the weather was terrible. It was raining and we could only see 5m ahead. I like an adventure but this was a complete waste of time and money (the cost of the train and cable car is ridiculously expensive).

Don't go if the mountains are cloudy.

The hardest thing I’ve done in my life. People with average fitness thinking of climbing it on your own, don’t do it, get a guide. The rain and wind was unbearable in May where we climb it. But overall was worth it and an incredible experience
