The actual sand portion is narrow, but the waters are beautiful and clear. It's ideal for swimming, & we even spotted a sting ray one day in the water. Weekdays are not busy, but on the weekends, locals will come & BBQ. Cruise ships will...More

A very beautiful beach with warm shallow water and the ability to walk out quite a ways and explore the reef. Reef shoes are recommended to avoid encountering coral. Nice breezes as well.

Matira Beach offers everything from excellent swimming, decent restaurants and some amazing sunsets in March. If you're here during the first week of November, the Hawaiki Nui, Tahiti's version of the Tour de France (except in 6-man outrigger canoes called Va'a) ends here.

There is no public transport, however there will be plenty of Range Rovers near the pier that you can hire. We paid 5$ each way/per person. It's about a 10-15 minute ride, way too far to walk. The beach is stunning! Not very... More
